1. Begin by reviewing what nouns are (persons, places, things) and discuss
why details are important in writing.
2. Introduce the concept of adjectives as words that describe or modify
nouns. Write a few sentences on the board and underline the adjectives.
3. Create an adjective anchor chart with the class, listing examples and
categories (color, size, shape, etc.).
Activity 1: Adjective Sort (20 minutes)
Divide students into small groups and provide each group with a set of adjective
sorting cards.
Instruct students to categorize the adjectives into different groups based on their
characteristics (e.g., colors, sizes, shapes).
Discuss their choices as a class and clarify any misconceptions.
Activity 2: Fill in the Blanks (20 minutes):
Distribute sentence strips with nouns and blanks for adjectives to each student.
Students fill in the blanks with appropriate adjectives to complete the sentences.
