General Information: Objective: Mentors who are specialized in software engineering, product design, and/or pitching skills will be available onsite during Day 1 Hacking Day (26/8) to provide guidance and feedback so teams can finalize and pitch their products for Day 2 Pitching Day (27/8) successfully. Mentors should guide students to build products that fit the following criterias: ● Award List and Criteria As a SWE mentor, you would need to coach students on programming skills, and how they optimize their code to make an impressive demo for their products. As a UX UI mentor, you would need to coach students on visual design, the UX UI of the website and how they make their product user friendly as much as possible. Tentative time: 26/8 (Day 1 - Hacking Day). Exact time(s) can be flexible depending on mentor’s availability but needs to be within these 2 time periods: 9:00 - 11:00 AM & 14:00 - 17:00 PM. Participants: 20 teams, each team has 3-4 students and will receive 15 minute in-person coaching. S4V Point Of Contact: Ha An II. Mentor work scope: mainly on 26 Aug. 1. Share available time with S4V. Then teams will book 45-minute time slots with each mentor before 23 Aug. 2. Mentors will only need to be present on the time students book. But feel free to come in at other times of STEAMHacks as well! 3. Teams can book each 40 minute session (with 5 minutes buffer) with a mentor on Hacking Day (26 August) . III. Mentor’s responsibility: 1. Inform S4V of your availability during Hacking Day within the 2 time periods of 9:00 - 11:00 AM & 14:00 - 17:00 PM before 15/8. 2. Ensure that you are 100% available during the booked time slots. Please contact us at least 1 week prior to Hacking Day if any conflict arises. 3. Actively listen, interact, answer students’ questions, and give students useful and constructive feedback. Please refer to the Mentor Do’s and Don’ts File. 4. Inform S4V if any issues arise during the mentoring session(s).
