ADOPT-A-STUDENT READING PROGRAM
(S.Y. 2022-2023)
PROPONENT: Geraldine F. Sagario, English Teacher
I. INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE
Several readers have not consistently engaged in the language play that develops
an awareness of sound structure and language patterns. In spite of being high school
students, some learners who have been raised in poverty, those with limited proficiency
in English, those from homes where parents’ reading levels and practices are low are at
increased risk of reading failures.
With these reasons, Cauayan City Science and Technology High School Reading
Coordinator proposed a reading project called Adopt-A-Student Program. This aims to
help students under NR (non-reader) (if there is any) and frustration level to improve
their reading skills through the guidance of the teachers who adopt them (chose them) as
their clienteles.
II. OBJECTIVES
To specifically help struggling readers to decode and comprehend.
