Environmental science is a branch of science that involves the study of the environment
and its issues and solutions as it integrates other fields of sciences like physics, biology, and
geography. The importance of learning about environmental science helps people learn more
about the connection of this science to the whole world due to its information regarding about
the many different ways that deals with the environment and its aspects as it entails all kinds of
problems that an environment has like deforestation, global warming, climate change, and
more. In this topic, we learned about its various information like environmental scientists and
environmental engineering which is closely related to the field of civil engineering.
Environmental scientists are people who are directly working on the field of
environmental science as they try to understand the connections between humanity and the
environment. They are involved in researching important about the planet like understanding the
earth’s process, evaluating alternative energy systems, pollution control and mitigation, natural
resource management, and the effects of global climate change. They may work in various roles
such as being an environmental lawyer, coral reef sanctuary manager, Antarctic researcher,
laboratory technician, wastewater technician, and solar panel engineer. These people use their
abilities and knowledge of natural sciences in order to improve the conditions of human and
environment.
Environmental engineering, on the other hand, uses the principles of engineering, soil
science, biology, and chemistry in order to develop solutions to environmental problems like
ocean pollution, global warming, and loss of biodiversity. This area works various in order to
improve on recycling, waste disposal, public health, and air and water pollution. Environmental
engineers build and design projects like dams, wastewater treatment facilities, municipal water
supplies, water desalination plants, and a lot more. Environmental engineers are working in
hopes of ensuring the wellness of the environment as well as the people living in it for the
betterment of our planet.
Throughout this report, I learned about environmental science and its connections to our
world right now as we can see some improvement in our environment with projects made by
environmental scientists as well as structures made by environmental engineers. I have learned
about the importance of environmental science to our society and to our environment because if
it weren’t for them, our planet will be in disarray due to the damage caused by humans daily.
In conclusion, environmental science deals with the study of our environment as well as
researching the ways on how do we solve the issues that our environment is facing today as it
involves people who are willing to work on improving the situation of our planet. Environmental
science is not only just about maintaining the condition of the environment but rather it
innovates and provides new ways for humanity and the environment to become one.
