Introduction to my Essay
Grades in school are something that every child deals with, however in Indian
households, there is a significantly higher emphasis on academic success. Indian parents
constantly have a high expectation of their kids in school, no matter the situation. This narrative
can bring out various challenges. For instance, there is the constant stress that we need to do well
for our parents to be happy. This is something that many of us can relate to and it leads us to
wonder about the origins of the narrative and the variety of impacts it has. In this essay, I want to
explore why this narrative may exist, and the effects it has on people.
