PROTOTYPE MAKING roxan.consolacion@g.msuiit.edu.ph Prototyping A prototype is a draft version of a product that allows you to explore your ideas and show the intention behind a feature or the overall design concept to users before investing time and money into development. Prototyping • A prototype can be anything from paper drawings (low-fidelity) to something that allows click-through of a few pieces of content to a fully functioning site (high-fidelity). What exactly is a prototype? • A prototype is an early sample or mock up of the product we wish to build. • A prototype is a quick model explaining the actual plans for the final product. It could be something as simple as hand-drawn sketches, integrated together(lo-fi prototype) to demonstrate the product to a fully functional product(hi-fi prototype), which the stakeholders and users can feel and use. • In a nutshell prototype is an early iteration of the product, demonstrating its core functionality. THE BENEFITS OF MAKING A FURNITURE PROJECT PROTOTYPE • Save time and money on your next furniture project. • The time you spend making a project prototype will help you work out the best design details, catch mistakes before they happen, and help you figure out how to build your final project successfully. • Using inexpensive wood for the prototype will also prevent wasting your best wood on design mistakes.
