The Happy Prince BY Shahd Mohammed Grade 12-GED Story Summary There was a prince who used to live a happy life with no problems and tragedy. When the prince died the people of his village decided to make him a statue which is located in the middle of the village and the statue was full of gold and fine jewels. The prince was able to see everyone in the village and was sad because he was able to see everyone in his village suffering. A bird came one day and sat besides the prince but then saw the prince crying and he felt pity for him. So he decided to help the prince in helping whoever is suffering, and the prince decided to sacrifice the gold and jewels he had to help everyone. At the end the bird dies because of cold, and the statue turns pale and ugly. Characters: The Prince - Physical traits: covered with thin leaves of fine gold, in the eye he had two bright sapphires, and a large ruby glowed on his sword hilt. - Characteristics [before his death]: he was full of joy, and he didn't know about the other people’s problems. Characteristics [after his death]: his eyes was full of tears, heartbroken for the people in his village, and sacrifice himself. - Characters: The Bird - Characteristics: pure hearted, takes pity, ease the sufferings, and considerate. Themes of the Story - Sacrifice, because we learned from the prince that we need to sacrifice in order to help others. Helping others. Feeling compassion and caring about others' feelings. Thoughts about this Story - The story has lots of themes that can make everyone learn to feel empathy, care about others, and be kind and helpful. Thank You :)
