HOW TO START
ADVERTISING
AND MAINTAIN PEAK PERFORMANCE
STEP 1
The first step to creating your first Facebook Ad, is to set the goal for your campaign. It is very
important that if you are selling a physical product, that you set your campaign objective as
SALES as shown below, then scroll down to go onto Step 2.
STEP 2
The next step is to name your campaign, ad set, and your ad as shown below, then you need to
hit “Continue”.
STEP 3
Now you need to make sure you choose “Manual Sales Campaign”, this gives you the power
over the creation of the advertisement rather than Facebook creating it for you.
STEP 4
Now you need to make sure that you select your website as the location you want to drive sales
to. You also want to set the performance goal to “Maximize The Number Of Conversions” As
shown below, Then scroll down so you can move onto Step 5.
STEP 5
Now this is arguably the most important step. You MUST make sure that you have selected
“PURCHASE” as your conversion event. If you don’t then it doesn’t matter how good your ad
is, as you will not get any sales. Next, scroll down so you can move into Step 6.
STEP 6
Next you need to set your budget and the time you want to release your ad. You should always
set your ads to release at 12:00AM because Facebook will spend your budget throughout the
entire twenty-four-hour day. Your budget is up to you, but I recommend at least $10 to $30 per
day for your first ad. Now scroll down to move onto Step 7.
STEP 7
The next step is to pick the correct audience, now this depends on your products but for instance,
if you sell sports clothing then you would choose and audience like “Nike” or “Adidas”, and if
you sell regular clothing, you might just choose something like “Casual Wear” or “Clothing” and
you need to make sure your audience size has at least 2 million people, otherwise your ad will
not be shown to enough people. Now hit “Next” in the bottom right to move on to Step 8.
STEP 8
Now you need to upload your ad creative. This is the single most important part of an
advertisement, you can have perfect targeting but with a bad picture, your ad will perform
poorly. Now you want to choose “Manual Upload” and “Single Image” or “Carousel” then scroll
down so you can get to Step 9.
STEP 9
Now you need to select a destination for people to go to when they click on your ad. You need
to copy and paste the link that goes to the product you’re selling and paste it into the “Website
URL” Section. Then, copy and paste the link that leads to the home page of your website and
paste it into the “Display Link” section. This is the link that people will be able to see when they
view your ad. Now scroll down to move onto Step 10.
STEP 10
Now it’s time to publish your ad!
Once you publish your ad, it will go into review and will be checked by Meta employee to search for any
community guidelines violations. If you don’t violate community guidelines, then you’re good to go and now you
just have to wait for it to be out of review. You should then leave your ad running for about 1-3 days before
you do anything to it, so you give Facebook adequate time to gather data. If you’re going to advertise in
multiple countries, then you might want to choose to advertise in multiple languages. To publish hit the “publish”
button in the bottom right corner. This will take you to Step 11.
STEP 11
After leaving your ad for 1-3 days, if you have more than one sale it is time to scale. If you
haven’t gotten any sales yet, then you need to restart the process and advertise with a new
target audience and ad creative. But if you have at least one sale, you’re going to need to
duplicate your ad set as shown below. At this time your (on/off) toggle should be on but make
sure that when you’re editing your ads, that your toggle switch is off. Then switch it back On
when you’re finished. Click “Duplicate” and move onto Step 12.
STEP 12
Now you need to raise the budget for your duplicated ad set. You can raise it by any amount
you choose as long as it’s $10 or more as shown below. After that, publish your new ad set. This
will take you to Step 13.
STEP 13
Congratulations! You’ve just started the scaling process, now you want to duplicate your ad sets
just like in step 12. Every time you get three or more sales per ad set, do this until your ad sets
slow down exponentially or your sales stop entirely. Then it’s time for the next step in the scaling
process. You want to duplicate the CAMPAIGN that all your ad sets are in, and you want to
choose “Campaign Budget Optimization” for this campaign. Set the daily budget at $50 per
day for each ad set. So if you have 5 ad sets, you want to set the budget to $250 per day as
shown below. Then, publish your campaign. Continue to the next slide.
STEP 14
Now that you’ve completed Step 13, you need to let your new CBO campaign run for 1-3 days
and then duplicate it and raise the budget just like you did with your ad sets back in Step 11.
You should do this until your sales dry up and you aren’t making anymore sales, in which case
you need to start the process over using a different image, target audience and interest. Then
after that, publish your campaign.
STEP 15
CONGRATULATIONS! you’ve just completed your first Facebook advertising campaign! Now you start
over from Step 1 for each one of the products you want to advertise. Thank you for allowing us to
help guide you through these first steps. Please read below for BONUS and contact information.
