PL4 8AA BEng MFT Year 1 training 2015 MFT give students an initial experience in the use of workshop equipment and machine tools. As part MFT you will make a small artefact which will give you experience in the use of lathes, milling/drilling machines, hand work and a basic CAM introduction. MFT are important elements of course accreditation. If you have already experienced the processes described above it is expected that you will seek exemption from MFT. This might be by virtue of having completed an apprenticeship; previous employment; previous education (School CDT, CFE etc.) or other training courses (e.g. EITB) etc. Evidence in the form of copies of training certificates, apprenticeship deeds, letter of confirmation etc. should be submitted to Neil Fewings / Rick Preston ASAP (during the first two weeks of term). You are required to attend, it is not optional, the first year training course unless you are granted exemption and your attendance will be monitored. Failure to attend could result in failure of the first year. If you are in any doubt as to your eligibility for exemption please see Rick/Neil within W6 Brunel Building. It is also possible to be granted exemption without documentation by speaking to Rick/Neil at the earliest opportunity. Space is limited on this part of the course. If you qualify for exemption then please make it known and give those that do need to attend the best possible opportunity to gain maximum benefit. Your allocated group and attendance period (2 weeks on a day basis dependant on student numbers) will be notified to you via your University EMAIL. BEng 1 Commencing at 09.00 on Monday 26th October 2015 in W6 Brunel Building and every Monday thereafter during the first term.
