Although the primary aim of this course involves helping you build your proficiency and confidence as a writer of English, we will also devote time and efforts to improving your writing, reading, critical reasoning, and research skills. The course combines a process approach to writing with a practical approach to teaching the basics of writing. During the course, the students will be working on invention, peer response, editing, revising and writing multiple drafts. II. THE AIM OF THE COURSE By reading assigned materials and preparing for class, participating actively in classroom tasks, and completing assignments, you will be able to: - Apply genre awareness by understanding texts, contexts, and the roles of readers and writers; - Gather reliable and useful information for writing by conducting effective searches; - Summarize, paraphrase, and quote effectively from authoritative sources; 2 - Demonstrate efficient planning, drafting, revision, and editing strategies; - Reproduce selected scientific and professional genres, including digital texts, summaries, abstracts, and critical reviews; III. REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING CREDITS 1. VIII. DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENTS Mid-term (40%) In order to take Mid-term exam students, have to participate in the classes and do homework. In the mid-term exam students are required to write a paragraph on a given topic. The paragraph is evaluated by the following criteria: Content – 10 Grammar mistakes-10 Spelling -10 Structure – 10 Topics for writing a paragraph: 1. My future plans 2. My dream houses 3. My favorite book 5 4. The best holiday in my life 5. My best friend Final exam (60%) In order to take Mid-term exam students have to participate in the classes and do homework. Students are required to write an essay on any topic. Their work is evaluated by the following criteria: Content – 15 Grammar mistakes -10 Spelling- 10 Structure -10 Coherent/cohesion-10 Word limit - 5 IX. METHODS, CRITERIA, AND PROCEDURE OF ASSESSMENT: The procedure for evaluating students' knowledge is determined based on the academic policy of "DIPLOMAT UNIVERSITY" and the requirements of the Regulation on academic evaluation. Procedure for implementation of assessments. Mid-term exam: It is conducted in oral form based on the topics covered. Final exam: A test will be conducted on the topics covered during the semester. The dates of the mid-term and final examinations are organized on the basis of the schedule of the educational process approved in a particular academic year. Note: The types, forms and number of assessments may be changed during the following semesters based on the decisions of the department meeting. X.
