LAB ASSIGNMENT ITT459 ITT459 - DATA COMMUNICATIONS LABORATORY ASSIGNMENT Lab Assignment (Packet Tracer.pkt) Group Presentation - 30% - 20% OBE: P3 & A3 Course Outcome: Discuss the existing technologies, communication theories, and formulas used in realworld scenarios. Learning Outcomes: Analytic skills (MOE). The Objectives By the end of this project, you should be able to • To demonstrate the concept of Local Area Network (LAN) Design • To discuss the concept, theory of LAN and IP addressing The Instructions Using cisco packet tracer network simulator, you must design and implement a Local Area Network for a small and medium enterprise (SME). Below are the requirements of their LAN network. The LAN comprise of 4 network/subnet: 1. HQ Network a. Subnet: 192.168.2.0/24 b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 c. Number of Host: 12 (2 Printer, 5 Workstation, 5 Laptop) d. Printer and Workstation must be connected to “HQ Switch” using Wired Ethernet e. Laptop must be connected to network using Wireless Ethernet via Access Point LAB ASSIGNMENT ITT459 2. Penang Branch Network a. Subnet: 192.168.6.0/24 b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 c. Number of Host: 5 (1 Printer, 2 Workstation, 2 Laptop) d. Printer and Workstation must be connected to “Penang Switch” using Wired Ethernet e. Laptop must be connected to network using Wireless Ethernet via Access Point 3. Johor Branch Network a. Subnet: 192.168.8.0/24 b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 c. Number of Host: 6 (1 Printer, 2 Workstation, 3 Laptop) d. Printer and Workstation must be connected to “Johor Switch” using Wired Ethernet e. Laptop must be connected to network using Wireless Ethernet via Access Point 4. Data Centre Network a. Subnet: 192.168.10.0 /24 b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 c. Number of Server Host: 5 d. The servers must host HTTP, HTTPS and FTP services e. All servers must be connected to “Data Center Switch” using Wired Gigabit Ethernet Port. All the networks must be connected to a “HQ Router” (Thus the HQ Router must have adequate port to connect all network together) and all network and equipment in this project must be labelled properly. Project Evaluation Your project will be evaluated based on the following criteria: 1. Packet Tracer File (Group) – 30% 2. Presentation (Group) – 20% Packet Tracer File You network implementation must fulfilled all the requirement which has been stated above. After you have completed the network implementation on packet tracer, please save your network project to a packet tracer file(.pkt) for submission. LAB ASSIGNMENT ITT459 Your assignment will be evaluated based on the following criteria: No 1 2 3 4 5 Evaluation Criteria Requirement Fulfilment Network and Equipment Labelling Correct Network Addressing Connectivity (All host able to ping each other) All Host able to access server services in Data Center Network Marks 40 10 10 30 10 Submission Please submit your packet tracer file via GC Deadline submission Packet Tracer File 21 Dec 2023 (Thursday) by 5pm Group presentation A (8 Jan 2024) B (11 Jan 2024) C (8 Jan 2024) : WEEK 11 : WEEK 13 Late Assignments NO late assignments or make up will be accepted. Presenter presents information in logical sequence which audience can follow. Presenter presents information in logical, interesting sequence which audience can follow. Subject Knowledge Presenter does not have grasp of information; Presenter cannot answer questions about subject. Presenter is uncomfortable with information and can answer only rudimentary questions. Presenter is at ease with expected answers to all questions but fails to elaborate. Presenter demonstrates full knowledge (more than required) by answering all class questions with explanations and elaboration. Visual Aids Student uses superfluous visual aids or no visual aids Student occasionally uses visual aids that rarely support the presentation Student's visual aids relate to the presentation. Student's visual aids explain and reinforce the presentation. Graphics & Mechanics Presenter uses superfluous graphics or no graphics Presenter's presentation has four or more spelling errors Presenter occasionally uses graphics that rarely support text and presentation. Presentation has three misspellings and/or grammatical errors. Presenter's graphics relate to text and presentation. Presentation has no more than two misspellings and/or grammatical errors. Presenter's graphics explain and reinforce screen text and presentation. Presentation has no misspellings or grammatical errors. Criteria Organization 1 Poor Audience cannot understand presentation because there is no sequence of information. LAB ASSIGNMENT ITT459 and/or grammatical errors. Eye Contact Presenter reads all of report with no eye contact. Elocution Presenter mumbles, incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for presenters in the back of class to hear. Presenter occasionally uses eye contact, but still reads most of report. Presenter's voice is low. Presenter incorrectly pronounces terms. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation. Presenter maintains eye contact most of the time but frequently returns to notes. Presenter’s voice is clear. Presenter pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear presentation. Presenter maintains eye contact with audience, seldom returning to notes. Presenter uses a clear voice and correct, precise pronunciation of terms so that all audience members can hear presentation.
