Donald Bechtel Succeeding in College - CSS106_1047 May 2, 2022 Learning Strategies and Learning Styles My two biggest concerns while taking online college courses are having enough time to study and scheduling when to do the work needed to be successful. Life is busy and trying to arrange my studies around family, work and entertainment is difficult at times. I am a hybrid learner depending on what I am trying to learn. I use all three learning styles. I employ the Auditory Learning Style when I am attending a stand-up lecture. The Visual Learning Style when I attend presentations and online courses. The Tactile/Kinesthetic Learning Style when I am learning hardware or equipment. As an auditory learner, I find it helpful to record the class lectures. Because I learn from audio sources, I listen to the information as much as possible and participate in class discussions and debates. When I study, I read the textbook aloud. As a visual learner my study habits include drawing diagrams in the margins of the text you are reading. Highlighting and underlining information also helps me to retain the materials. As a Kinesthetic learner I do my best by doing. When I am learning technical hardware or equipment, being able to put my hands on it provides me with a better understanding of how things work. The visual learning style is the predominant method of learning while taking online college courses since no interaction with the other students or professor exists outside of written communications. The course material is read and digested independent of any interactions.
