Capability Statement
I am a graduate professional holding a BSC in Laboratory Science. I specialized in Physics at the
College of Medical Laboratories and Science. I have completed a higher Diploma in education; I
have worked as a teacher across the departments of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology
and Sport, supporting my colleagues when they are present and overwhelmed with work. I have
covered for my workmates during leave and staff absences as a result of which I have gained a
wider and integrated experience in managing classroom and laboratory work across disciplines. I
have worked as exams officer. I am excellent at maintaining equipment of various kinds. I am
able to work for long hours under minimum supervision. I have set up experiments according to
set guidelines drawing on my creativity when instructions are unwritten or require imagination.
Being a married man has helped me to improve my social standing and outlook as I have to
manage my private life with my wife as we work to achieve our family mission. I am a devout
Muslim practicing all the requirements of my religion and meeting all my commitment as
expected of me. I have further built my leadership skills through organizing Science Fairs and
managing various agricultural projects, business startups, football fans clubs, sports teams and
supply management. I have a passion for football play, talent scouting and refereeing. I am a
friendly and outgoing person that learns easily. I have learnt to work under comfortable or harsh
situations. I maintain a peaceful attitude and love my work.
Relevant work experience
From March 2012_ to date my post was upgraded to A secondary science teacher I was
responsible to teach science (physic, chemistry and mathematics) for KS3 and since 2014 I
started teaching physics for IGCSE students. In 2018 I started my new role as Exams officer.
From November 2009 – May 2012 I worked as a science Lab Technician in Unity High School,
Khartoum
I was the Senior Lab Technician since March 2009, in Physics and chemistry. The school offers
IGCSE, AS and A2 (GCE) certifications. I was responsible for:
 planning for maintenance in the Science Department according to the School’s Maintenance
Policy
 assisting subject teachers with practical work during lesson delivery
 covering for teachers during lessons when they are absent

preparing lab equipment in readiness for requested experiments
managing the order book for experiment requests made by various teachers
troubleshooting faulty equipment during lessons and provide alternative equipment
Designing suitable experiments to illustrate major learning concepts for the lessons
Recommending modifications to the Lab and prep room designs
Sorting, labeling and storage of all lab equipment in the Physics lab
Preparing inventories during regular order periods and whenever the need arises
Collecting ordered books from the library and stationary from the school’s stores
Overseeing the cleaning of the Lab and prep rooms, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment
Maintaining lab equipment
Identify suppliers of laboratory apparatus
Purchasing locally available laboratory consumables
Invigilating examinations, tests and practical assessments
Supporting school subject events such as Options Evenings and Science Fairs
Looking after the safety equipment of the labs, the apparatus, the electricity wiring and
gadgets etc.

While I have a job offer there, my preference is to work in a college outside of Sudan.
From Nov 2006 – Feb 2009, I served at the Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST),
as Senior Lab Technician, tasked as follows: I was responsible for;
 Providing support to the General Physics Lab and the Electrical Lab, Electronics Lab,
Research Lab.
 Setting up all the experiments required for lab work by undergraduates
 Testing a modifying practical to give the required results
 Providing tutorial assistance to students during labs
 Covering for lecturers during absences
 Troubleshooting and maintaining scientific equipment
 Invigilating work during lessons and examinations
 Leading the staffs in the laboratories
 Preparing practical examinations
 Preparing inventory and order lists
 Labeling all science equipment
 Enforcing lab safety regulations
 Identify suppliers of laboratory apparatus
 Purchasing locally available laboratory consumables
 Assisting Research students and professors in practical studies
 Prepare the experiments and check if it is working or not before using
