According to Rule 2, of the Rules. on Examination Malpractices for members of staff "It shall be an offence for an invigilator to conduct himself/herself in a negligent, careless or irresponsible way in the execution of his/her duties such as to encourage the students/candidates to engage in examination malpractices". For avoidance of doubt, negligent invigilation shall include: a) Reading materials such as newspapers and books in the examination room, which would distract the invigilator from his/her duties. b) Abandoning the examination venues without making proper arrangements for an acceptable alternative invigilator. c) Reporting late for invigilation. d) Failing to report a case(s) of examination malpractice(s) promptly. e) Lack of vigilance in executing the Invigilator's duties including failing to actively monitor the examination room and the candidates as well as failing to secure the signature of every candidate in a particular examination as proof and right of attendance. Please note that it is also an offence for an authorized member of staff to refuse to invigilate an examination following due instructions. The purpose of this letter is to remind you of the above regulation and encourage you to be available when your examination is being administered.
