Katy Sameh 8D The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Movie Review The Chronicles of Narnia: The lion, the witch and the wardrobe is the second book of seven novels in the book series “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C. S. Lewis, after the great success of the novel, it was made into a film in 2005 that was loved by many. The movie takes place during the World War II bombings of London. It follows the lives of four siblings, Lucy the youngest, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they have to evacuate London and are sent to a country house where they are safe. While playing, Lucy finds a wardrobe that lands her in a mystical place called Narnia. She proceeds to telling her siblings but they do not believe her at first, until they get in trouble and need a place to hide. All four children enter the wardrobe and find themselves in the enchanted country of Narnia. Edmund gets lost but the White Witch Jadis finds him and manipulate him to come with her to the ice castle where he is locked up as it is the witch’s wish to have two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve. Enchanted creatures of the frost inform Lucy, Susan and Peter about their brother and what the White Witch intends to do. The animals then go on to reassure them that there is a way to get their brother back and it is by the help of the great lion, Aslan who is forming an army against the White Witch. Would they be able to bring their brother back? What will it cost them? The movie has a lot of morals as you venture in deeper into the story. It won 13 awards and got nominated 48 times for its performance, costumes, plot, hair and makeup. The sound track is impressive as it gives you an eerie feeling and keeps you at the edge of your seat. The acting is also of a very high standard as the characters perform a dazzling and memorable performance, Georgie Henley (Lucy), Skandar Keynes (Edmund), Anna Popplewell (Susan), William Moseley (Peter) had their careers skyrocket from their performance on the film. I would highly recommend The Chronicles of Narnia, especially if you are keen on fantasy films. Once you enter the world of Narnia there is no going back, you will be living every moment with them as if they were your siblings. I am sure you will never regret watching it. (Word count: 427)
