START TO FINISH – A JOURNEY FROM DNA TO PROTEIN EXPRESSION

Every part of a living thing—whether it be the shape of a dolphin’s tail or the amount of oxygen-carrying
cells in the blood—is coded in that organism’s DNA. During transcription, a copy of the DNA is made in
the form of messenger RNA, or mRNA. Ribosomes take the mRNA strand and convert it into a protein
chain with the help of transfer RNA, or tRNA. Finally, this protein can combine with other proteins to send
a message. Let’s see if you can follow these steps from start to finish.
