THE
BEGINNINGS
It is important to
follow prevention
methods to avoid
the
spread
of
COVID-19.
THE
BEGINNINGS
When a person is
infected, they should
take
action
to
prevent the spread of
the virus and seek
medical help.
THE
BEGINNINGS
By understanding the
nature of infection, we
can take steps to
prevent
its spread
and keep ourselves
and others safe.
The Five Stages of
Infection in
COVID-19
Incubation
Period
• This is the time between
exposure to the virus and
the onset of symptoms.
• It can last from 2 to 14 days,
but some people may not
develop symptoms.
Prodromal
Period
• This is the time when
symptoms start to appear.
• Symptoms may include
fever, cough, and body
aches.
Acute Phase
•This is the time when the
infection is at its peak.
•Symptoms may include
difficulty breathing, fatigue,
and loss of smell or taste.
DECLINING
STAGE
• The period when symptoms
start to subside, and the
patient may feel improvement
but still cannot return to doing
normal activities. The infection
is still present but now
reduced.
CONVALESCENT
STAGE
•Is when the patient
recovers his/her strength
and returns to his/her
normal state of Health
Keep In Mind:
Pandemic is not a word to use lightly or
carelessly. It is a word that, if misused, can cause
unreasonable fear, or unjustified acceptance
that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary
suffering and death.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom, WHO Director General
