some individuals believe that this trend would contribute to a country's development, others claim
that investing in these events is a wasteful expenditure. Personally, I agree with the outlook that
hosting international sports events would beneficial to the host nations.
On the one hand, there are fundamental rationales for spending in major sporting events is
watsteful. Firstly, the substantial financial resources required to construct sports areas, equippments
and transportation facilities to meet the demands of participants are likely to cause decrease in the
state budget. Thus, it took decades for some towns, such as Montreal or Los Angeles, to pay off the
debts accumulated during the planning and execution of the previous Olympics. In addtion,
following a competition or sporting event, certain infrastructure frequently becomes abandoned. For
example, the majority of the stadiums constructed in Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup are no
longer in use because they were created only for the tournament's matches.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that hosting international athletic events may benefit a nation.
Holding a multinational sports event attracts a considerable number of tourists who are enthusiastic
in experiencing the atmosphere of high-level matches. As a result, the demand for accomodation
and transportation services may increase dramatically, which would expand the country's tourism
sector. Furthermore, international sporting events often showcase prestige athletes with impressive
skills, which is likely to promote greater participation in human’s physical activities. Consequently,
sedentary lifestyle of many people today due to huge workloads or excessive immersion in online
social networks.
To summarize briefly, although it is stated that hosting major sporting events will have many
negative impacts, I firmly believe that it will bring significant benefits as mentioned above to host
country.
