I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the learners would be able to:
 Enumerate types and strategies of listening
 Demonstrate listening technique and strategy by listening to an audio file
 Realize the importance of listening to daily life
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Listening Strategies

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparation
B. Motivation
 Provide a copy of incomplete lyrics of the song, “Better When I’m Dancing” by Meghan Trainor.
 Instruct students to listen to the song and fill in the right word/lyrics.
 Afterwards, ask how many got perfect, got 2 errors, and so on.
 Then, ask them how they got the right word/s.
***By this, students will be already realize some importance of listening and will possibly learn
techniques to totally get the right information through listening.***
C. Presentation
Collect thoughts and insights from the students to the following questions:
 What is listening?
 Why do we listen?
 How do you listen?

Study this example:
Mary just loves listening to the song 'Chet and the Cow Pokes' on the radio. When the music comes
on, she smiles, can sing along with every word, and sometimes breaks into dance.
What type of listening strategy is this? Appreciative.
How to Improve your listening skills?
Activity: Message Relay!
 Students will be divided into two groups.
 The teacher will give one sentence to the representative of each.
 Each group must fall into one line.
 The representative is the only person who knows the exact words of the sentence. He/She
must listen carefully and remember the exact sentence.





After the teacher gives the GO signal, the representative starts to recite/whisper the message
to the first person in the line.
In relaying the message, the speaker MUSTN’T say it loud.
The last person in the line then say the sentence being transferred to him/her.
The teacher will show the exact message on the TV screen.
The winner should be the one with exact words.

Give 1 worksheet each student and let them supply the right word/s based on the played audio.
