Questions about Transition to Deel (EOR or Contractor)
1. Does Deel have offices in Egypt?
• Yes - Alexandria and Cairo. The links to book an appointment in each office will be provided on
your Welcome Email.
2. When we are signing up to deel Will we have the chance to choose to be in a contractor Method or
EOR ?
• Yes, we will have an email coming your way shortly with an option to chose and would like
answer on that by close of business Tuesday 11/14 to complete the process on time.
3. Will we receive our salary from a bank transfer in Egypt or with a wire transfer from a bank outside
Egypt? and if yes what is the name of the bank, they are using here in Egypt?

Yes it will be outside of Egypt, and it will be Citi Bank
4. Should we prepare the hiring documents again like the Criminal Record Certificate, Labor Certificate,
and so on?
• EOR business model - yes. Please see the list of the required documents below:
Required Documents
Please have the below documents ready and bring them to your appointment:
▪ Employment agreement: three (3) copies, download the agreement from the Deel platform and
print the copies, reviewed and signed in wet-ink.
▪ Passport-size photo: six (6) copies.
▪ Criminal Record document ‫”الفيش الجنائ‬: one (1) copy, to request from your local police station.
▪ Obtaining your criminal record document usually takes 2-3 days, 24 hours if a fast-track service
is available.
▪ Work Footer “‫”كعب العمل‬፡ one (1) copy, to request from your local labor office.
▪ National ID Card: bring your original national ID and one (1) scanned copy of it.
▪ Original Educational Certificate: one (1) copy of your most recent degree or diploma.
▪ Original Birth Certificate: one (1) copy.
▪ Original Military Certificate : one (1) copy, required from all male employees under the age of 60
- if you don’t have one, bring a document proving you are exempt from military service or that it
was postponed
▪ During your appointment you will receive:
• Form 1 - Social Insurance
• Form 111 - Health Insurance Authority
5. If I choose to be a contractor does it mean no need for official Hiring Documents and just upload my
Identity and other information through Deel Portal ?
• The onboarding processes and required documents are different from the EOR to the
Independent contractor business model. For more information on each process, please refer to:

6. Does it affect my Net salary or it would be the Same ?
• If you are an EOR Employee - taxes will be withheld from your paycheck.

If you are a Contractor - no taxes will be deducted, you will have to pay your taxes to the
government on your own accord.

7. Will the medical insurance be affected if someone decided to go with contractor?
• Yes, as contractors do not get access to mandatory and supplementary benefits in Egypt.
8. Keys Payroll Medical Insurance Card was just issued, what will happen?
• Keys Payroll confirmed that the benefits would be canceled on the last working day.
• Deel Enrollment cut-off dates are as follows:
• Employees who complete their ThanksBen enrollment between the 1st and 15th of a month

will be shared with Allianz on the 15th. These employees will receive welcome emails between
the 17th-19th, and be covered (backdated) from the 1st of that month.
Employees who complete their ThanksBen enrolment between the 16th and 31st of a month
will be shared with Allianz on the 1st. These employees will receive welcome emails on the
2nd-4th of the following month and be covered from the 1st of the following month.
The Status on Deel platform updates on the 15th of each month.
If the employee enrolled before the 15th, the status on Deel platform will be updated on the
15th of that same month. If the employee enrolls after the 15th, the Deel platform will be
updated on the 15th of the following month.
9. Binance is Well known here in Egypt can you support that for contractors if many contractors need
that?
• FOR CONTRACTORS ONLY - Important update on Binance’s BUSD stablecoin

From February 2024, Binance will stop maintaining its BUSD stablecoin. You can read more about this in
Binance’s official post. As a result, the BUSD stable coin will be delisted from Deel eventually.

10. If I choose to be a contractor, how can we handle HR letters for proving my job?
• Independent Contractors can download their Verification Letters directly from the platform. More
information can be found here.
11. Why there's no mention of the Company that recruited me in Deel's agreement?
• The reason there's no mention of the company (Transflo) in the Employment Agreement for an Egyptian
employee is due to the nature of the Employer of Record (EOR) model that Deel operates.
• In an EOR arrangement, the EOR company (in this case, Deel) becomes the legal employer of the
employee for tax, insurance, and compliance purposes. This means that while the employee performs
work for the client company (Transflo), their official employment relationship is with the EOR company.

Therefore, the Employment Agreement is between the EOR (Deel) and the employee, not Transflo. This
is why the client company's name (Transflo) or any abbreviations that look like the client's name are not
mentioned in the Employment Agreement.
This approach helps ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, as Deel takes on the
responsibility of managing employment contracts, payroll, taxes, and other HR duties.
12. What was the difference in the EOR in Velocity that makes them mention Our current company in the contract?
• Not sure why Velocity decided to put the names there but legally it should be just Deel and employee.
Otherwise the Egyptian law considers this a joint agreement which causes other complications.
13. Is there a way to keep our contract details as they are? Ex: mention our company, contract period, etc..
• What concerns do you have specifically with this regard?
• Concern about losing any benefits that we already have in the contract details.
14. If I choose to be a contractor, can I return back to EOR?
• Yes
15. Is there a pension plan with EOR?
• Transflo does not currently offer a pension plan for EOR
16. If I choose to be a contractor, can I have a health insurance package like the same with EOR at my own cost?
And how much will it be?

Traditionally, contractors cannot be provided insurance options by clients due to misclassification issues.
This means they often lose out on group discounts that companies have access to, so contractors end up
paying a much higher rate.
Deel has a few insurance options that contractors can choose from to make sure they get that discount
via Deel – it will not be the same plans available to EORs.
17. If I choose to be a contractor,
• it will be a full-time job or what?
• This will be same full-time expectation.
• what will happen in future for Career Levels?

if any Salary raises that company may do in future this will affect both EOR and Contractors?

18. Is there a salary raise process already set for the Company?
19. EOR , Regarding those who have already completed the probation period, is there a need to add a new
probation period in the new contract?
• It’s a standard contract for everyone so the probation language will be there. All initial dates
will be honored and no one who passed their probation will be restarting it.
20. Regarding the needed paper (Q4), all my official documents are with Keys Payroll and they were
recently completed (less than 6 weeks ago), do I have to redo them?
• What specific documents that you are concerned about? You can contact VG HR POC

21. We need to know: If I become a contractor, will I be entitled to any national (Egyptian) holidays or public
holidays (Saturdays and Fridays)? Additionally, in case of illness, will I be eligible for sick leave? And if I take any
days off, what will be deducted from my compensation?
• Expecting everything to remain the same for both EOR & Contractor for time off & sick time within
reason. Holidays will be observed the same way.
22. Regarding question 20, if I transition from being an Employee of Record (EOR) to a contractor role, and currently
as an EOR I earn a gross salary of X dollars, what would be the percentage increase in my total salary when I
become a contractor?
• Performance reviews will be conducted the same way and qualified salary increases will be the same for
both EOR and Contractor
23. As a contractor will I be able to get a HR letter from Deel to be used at council, bank…etc ?
•

24. In there any difference between EOR and Contractor regarding yearly increase?
• See question 21
25. Is it possible to keep the balance as it’s on Deel for long time not only 15 days?
•
Deel strongly recommends contractors withdraw their money within 30 days. After 30 days have passed
Deel may initiate a withdrawal for them using their most recently used withdrawal method. More info

26. Is it possible to withdraw a part of the balance not the whole amount at once?
•
Yes, it is. Please review this article for guidance on the minimum amount for withdrawals.
27. I just joined Transflo three weeks ago and my papers are with Keys Payroll, I didn’t receive neither a HR
letter to open bank account, social Insurance, nor medical insurance. Who should I contact?
•
They will receive an offer letter from Deel once they sign up. They can use this letter to open their bank
account.
28. Could we please share the new contract, and any other document will be changed?
•
Yes, contracts will be shared with everyone based on their selection of EOR vs Contractor and you will
have a chance to review.
29. As an EOR with Deel can we know the salary deductions percentage?
•
•
We cannot provide accurate information on how much an employee's take-home or net pay will be after
their incoming tax has been deducted. This is because income tax is very specific to that person and
their situation, e.g. what state/province they live in, how much they've earned in the past year, whether
they have any dependents, etc.
We don’t expect it to be much different than before as the rules are the same.
30. If I’m already a contractor, do you want me to choose to stay as I’m or change to EOR?
•
You can stay as Contractor unless you want to switch to EOR. Happy to accommodate both options.
