Let’s Learn
SUN
• LUMINOUS OBJECT
CANDLE
BULB
GENERATE THEIR OWN LIGHT
• NON-LUMINOUS OBJECT CANNOT GENERATE THEIR OWN
LIGHT
• HOWEVER THESE OBJECTS REFLECT THE LIGHT OF
LUMINOUS OBJECT MAKING THE OBJECT VISIBLE FOR US
DIRECTION OF
LIGHT?
ALL POSSIBLE DIRECTIONS.
A GLOWING BULB
Rays of light
• The light traveling in any one direction in a straight line is called a ray of
light. A group of light rays given out from a source is called a beam of
light.

LAWS OF REFLECTION
The three laws of reflection
• The angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of
reflection.
• The incident ray, the normal and the reflected ray are all in
the same plane.
• Incident ray and refracted ray are on different sides of the
normal.

HOW RAINBOWS ARE
FORMED?!
RAINBOWS ARE USUALLY SEEN
ON RAINY DAYS
BUT WE CAN SEE THEM NEAR WATERFALLS OR
FOUNTAINS
BUT HOW?

• BY TWO
PHENOMENONS THAT
1. Refraction
ARE:2. Total
internal reflection
WATER DROPLETS
AND THAT’S HOW RAINNBOWS ARE
FORMED!
