Understanding the energetics of food chains are crucial towards allieviate world hunger through having more efficient food production methods. The concept is influenced by various factors such as trophic levels and ecological principles. Some key points to understand about energetics of food chains and their impact on world hunger and hunger alleviation are energy transfer efficiency(only 10% of energy is transferred from one trophic level to the next), plant-based diets(more energy efficient as we would consuming directly from the first trophic level which has the least energy lost), meat production(energy is passed through trophic levels before we consume it so less energy efficient), resource allocation(using limited resources to make plant-based foods for efficient food production), sustainable agriculture, food security and nutritional balance. Understandning these ideas can aid in the allieviation of world hunger by enhancing the food distribution system.
