EMD (“electronic mastering device”) comes in several flavors:
00-182-747 : “Old” EMD (SEMD) works with KRC4 controllers for robots with Standard (“large”) mastering cartridge. This
EMD version comes with compact carrying case and has electronics built into sensor (not modular)
00-228-936 : Universal SEMD/MEMD (modular), works with all robots using KRC4 controllers. Electronics is separate since
this tool has two sensors:
SEMD = larger one for standard mastering cartridges and
MEMD = smaller one for micro mastering cartridges.
With optional cable set (00-228-327) it can also be also used with KRC1/KRC2.

00-228-934 : SEMD (Standard EMD, modular) is same as Universal tool 00-228-936, except it does not have a MEMD
sensor so it works with KRC4 controllers for robots with Standard (“large”) mastering cartridge
00-208-642 : MEMD (Micro EMD, modular) is same as Universal tool 00-228-936, except it does not have a SEMD sensor
so it works with KRC4 controllers with small robots (Agilus and CyberTech use “micro” mastering cartridge).
Extension cables for EMD tools are same as for smartPad:
00-174-900 (5m), 00-174-901 (10m), 00-174-902 (25m) and 00-195-301 (40m)
Note: Some wrists (Agilus) may not have the built in mastering cartridge for A6. In those cases, A6 is normally mastered
using procedure for Dial tool. Optionally A6 can still be mastered using EMD but this requires A6 adapter
plate (00-227-977) or assembly (00-249-305). Assembly includes adapter plate, as well as surface sealant, cap
screw and calibration adapter (and cost slightly more). This require removal of tool in order to master A6:
