Fluid Mechanics Homework-2
Submission Guidelines:
Format of Submission:
Please ensure that your work is submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF).
No bonus points will given for PDF submissions.
Usage of Equation Editors:
Utilizing an equation editor for crafting mathematical expressions in your solution is encouraged.
Employing such a tool will result in a bonus of 10 points being awarded to your submission.
Partial Grading:
In instances where the complete solution is not reached, partial grading will be applicable. For
any given question, up to 50% of the total available points may be awarded for demonstrating
correct steps or partial solutions.
For example, for a question valued at 50 points, a maximum of 25 points can be obtained even
if the final solution is not correct, provided that some steps towards the solution are accurate.
Late Submissions:
Submissions made up to 60 minutes past the deadline will incur a 20-point deduction from the
total score.
Submissions received more than 60 minutes after the deadline will not be accepted and will
consequently receive a score of zero.
Plagiarism Policy:

1. Water (γw=9.81 kN/m3) flows from the p pe shown n the f gure as a free jet and str kes a c rcular flat
plate. The flow geometry shown s ax s-symmetr cal.
a) Determ ne the flow rate. b) Determ ne the manometer read ng H.
2. A free jet is leaving from a pipe with an exit diameter of 10 cm that is feed by a pressurized
water tank as shown in the figure. The pressure inside the pipe with a diameter of 20 cm is
measured at two different locations, which yields to the difference of h in the manometer
installed to the pipe. Find h? Neglect friction. (γw=9.81 kN/m3 and γHg = 133 kN/m3)
