Computer Science Department Planning Meeting Topic: Discussing the possibilities of Distribution Planning; Pooling Resources for G1 NoticThe department subscribed to Teach with Computer Science (TCS) resources to provide teacher with additional resources in planning their lessons according to the SOW. Department aims for teaching resources: To support teachers by procuring and pooling resources to benefit CS teachers and students. To enrich students learning by using common/shared resources To organize resources for easy retrieval and improve efficiency. To collaborate, share teaching/learning ideas to enhance our classroom experience. Observation and Feedback regarding the establishment of our teaching resources framework We have a wide collection of distributed resources, but there is no central repository of resources that aligns with the SOW. Teachers individually tweak/modify TCS resources or use other resources to prepare for their lessons, keeping in line with the weekly SOW. Some teachers are more comfortable with preparing their own presentations and teaching materials while following the SOW. Consider these questions Your answer/comment Instead of individually tweaking these resources to prepare our own weekly/daily lesson, it would be good to tweak TCS or even other resources, adding suitable content and exercises match correspond our SOW based on weekly topics. Consider the proposed roster belowCan we accomplish the above this semester for G1? Proposed planning roster – Sem 1 G1 Teachers A B C D E F Week Week Week Week Week Week Weeks 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 9 Week 10 Week 11 12 13 14 15 16 Some teachers are comfortable displaying the textbook and using the white board as some topics need not PPT presentations. Week 8 is a holiday. Week 7, half week of teaching G1s Teachers may not be able to prepare PPTs two weeks in advance. Would you be able to organise resources to match our SOW for two weeks of lesson in this semester? It may not be possible to establish this framework so quickly. Would you use these resources organised by yourself or other colleagues or you would use different resources? This idea was discussed with team before presenting this proposal. How many days/weeks in advance should these lessons be organized? Apologies for its haphazard introduction. Thank you for sharing your opinions. Would you test this framework in week 4 and 5 of this semester? Any questions/comments/concerns? The proposed framework Questions The current proposed PPT Structure Would you recall each topic/subtopic or recall the previous lesson? 1. Cover page with the summary of the topics/subtopics for the week How many topics should we cover in a 40-minute period? 2. Slides with objective, recall page with extended writing for each topic. 3. Three slides for each topic 4. A slide with three differentiated tasks. The aim of the PPT is to have content and activities. The aim is to have an activity slide after every topic/subtopic with three different questions for all students. The teacher has the liberty to find their own creative way of delivering the content and executing the activity slide, such as using stations and students circulating the room to complete tasks at different stations. How much time should we spend on the recall slide/task? Would you want three slides per topic/subtopic. Can there be more or less slides? How would you want us to design the activity slide? Using the current Green, Amber, Red Using a different title instead of Green Amber Prepare a worksheet with three different tasks for everyone to do. Your questions/comments
