It’s a RIDDLE! Volume of a Right Triangular Prism CCSS.7.G.B.6 Notes to the Teacher… After having tested these puzzles on the students in my classroom I have noticed a few things that might help you to experience smooth sailing with this activity…Let me share… 1. 2. 3. 4. Be sure to go over the directions several times with students…I find they jump right in assuming they know what to do, and then end up at my desk asking questions. Point out that they are to ROUND the answers they get to the nearest whole number…they seem to look over this detail… The section up at the top right is the space to write the formula for the problems on this page. I find that if the students look up the formula, check it to be sure that it is the correct formula, and then continually refer to the formula while working, they stand a much better chance of learning the process in a way that will stick in their heads…just an idea… And lastly, the numbers in the riddle are sideways…but you don’t have to write the letters sideways…. : ) Riddle me this… Can you solve this puzzle by answering the question at the bottom of the page? Find the VOLUME OF A RRIGHT TRIANGULAR PRISM given the length and width of the base and height of the prism. Write your answer in the box to the right of the problem. In the riddle below, look for any boxes that have that number, and put the letter to the right of the problem in the box above the number. The first one is done for you. When you work all the problems, you will have solved the riddle… Round answers to whole numbers. Show all your work on a separate sheet of paper. HAVE FUN!
