 Monitoring Applications are used in various things in
our daily life.
 Here is an example: A Security Device
 Here you can see that many sensors are attached to the
interface and then the interface tells the control unit to
enable siren or lights.
 In hospitals many sensors are attached to the patients
to monitor any abnormal reading
 The sensors are attached to the computer and
computer frequently compares data to the correct
range that was input before.
 If there is a reading out of acceptable range the
computer will send a signal to sound an alarm.
 Monitoring continues until the sensors are
disconnected from the computer.
 Control of a street light:
 As you can see in this image the light sensor in the
street light sends the data to the ADC so that
microprocessor can interpret the data and then
according to data the microprocessor give the
command whether to turn on the street light or not.
 ABS is found in most of the modern cars and vehicles.
 ABS uses magnetic field sensors.
 The sensor checks if a wheel is moving slower than the
other 3 or is locked up due to sudden braking.
 Then gives information to the ECU then the ECU
enables brakes at intervals which are in milliseconds.
 The ABS basically matches the rotating speed of one
wheel to the other 3 through sensing.
 ABS also increases brake efficiency and leads to faster
stop.
 The working of a central heating system:
 The required temperature value is preset in the keypad.
 The temp sensor sends data to the microprocessor through
ADC.
 Then the microprocessor compares the preset value and
the reading from the sensor to turn on or off the heater.
 Then the heater is operated through an actuator.
 Five different sensors can be used to control the
greenhouse environment, namely: humidity, moisture,
temperature, pH and light.
 Many sensors are used in this but lets consider the
humidity control sensor.
 The sensor sends the signal to the computer trough
ADC, then the computer compares the preset data
with the reading to take any action.
 For example: if the humidity is low the comp will send
the signal to DAC then the motors to open windows.
