Safety information on environmental influences
The influence of strong electromagnetic fields (e. g. through
the use of HF therapy or surgical devices) can lead to malfuncWARNING
tions of the Barkey Prismacomfort device. If interference of
this type occurs, increase the distance between the Barkey
Prismacomfort and the device causing the interference, or operate the devices at separate times. The Barkey Prismacomfort
works perfectly within the limit values set in the EN 60601-1-2
standard. The device can be influenced outside the limit values
set by the EN 60601-1-2 standard.
Portable and mobile HF communication equipment such as
mobile phones can influence the device.
The actual temperature of the heating device depends to a
small extent on the room temperature. During manufacture, the
heating devices are calibrated at a room temperature of 22 ±
1°C. Temperature inspections can be carried out at a room
temperature of 20°C ...28°C. If the temperature tolerances for
the heating device are not met in this process, the temperature
inspection must be repeated at a room temperature of 22 ± 1°C.
During the measuring process, the heating device must not be
exposed to sunlight, draughts or any other conditions influencing the measurement.
Do not cover the heating profile with cloths or bandage material, and do not run it below bedcovers, warm air blankets or
similar.
Do not use the device in the immediate vicinity of
• flammable materials (e.g. gases, liquids),

Overtemperature control
The Barkey autocontrol 3XPT is fitted with two independent mechanisms to protect it
from high temperatures.
One of these is the software overtemperature protection. In this case, the software continuously monitors the temperature of the heating devices connected. When the measured
temperature exceeds that of the setpoint by a specified value, the heating will be permanently switched off.
The other method is an independent temperature sensor which is fitted to every heating
device. This sensor is continually monitored by the electronic system. If a fixed set temperature is exceeded, the heating will be switched off permanently.
At the same time as the heating is switched off, an error number is shown on the display.
After error recognition, the device can only be switched to normal operating mode by
switching it off and on again.
► The serial number of the adapter 2 (overtemperature test) which is used must be entered in the inspection log.
► Software overtemperature triggering channel 1:
On adapter 2, the rotary knob for temperature setting (temperature) must be turned
completely to the left (anticlockwise).
Adapter 2 is then plugged into channel 1 of the controller.
Switch the Barkey autocontrol 3XPT on in normal operating mode.
After around 5 seconds, the control unit displays a temperature of approx. 38°C ± 1 K
for channel 1. The LED for heating on adapter 2 must come on.
Now turn the rotary knob for temperature setting slowly to the right. The temperature
displayed will slowly rise. The LED for heating should be flashing, if the temperature
display rises above 39°C. The more the temperature rises, the more rapidly the display flashes. The LED remains off above a temperature of 40°C.
Turn the rotary knob for temperature settings slowly further to the right.
At a temperature ≥ 41°C, the yellow "error" LED must light up on the control unit
and the display must show error number 104. If this is the case, the software
overtemperature trigger is working correctly.
The result of this software overtemperature test must be entered in the log.
The Barkey autocontrol 3XPT must be switched off to reset the error display.
► Electrical overtemperature triggering channel 1:
Adapter 2 stays on channel 1. The rotary knob for temperature setting (temperature)
must be turned completely to the left (anticlockwise).
Switch the Barkey autocontrol 3XPT to normal operating mode again.
Wait until the temperature is shown in the display.
Then press the overtemperature button. The LED for heating must go out on adapter
2. The yellow "error" LED must light up on the control unit and the display must
show error number 105. If this is the case, the electrical overtemperature trigger is
working correctly.
The result of the electrical overtemperature test must be entered in the log.
► Software overtemperature triggering channel 2:
Carry out as for channel 1. The only difference is that the software overtemperature
triggering will display error number 204.

Technical safety inspection (TSI)
The values for the "head" and the "end" must not be mixed up.
For technical reasons, the Barkey autocontrol 3XPT regulates the temperature of the
warmest sensor in the Barkey autoline XPT 4R to 43°C. The temperature of the other
sensor can be considerably lower. This means that there are also temperature differences for both reference temperatures.
One of the two reference temperatures must be 43.0°C ± 1.0 K, the other reference
temperature may be considerably lower than 43°C.
► The temperatures chX a and chX b shown on the autocontrol must be entered in the
inspection log (X is the placeholder for the channel which the heating device is connected to). These temperatures must not deviate from the reference temperature by
more than ± 1.0K in each case.
5.2.3
Measurements as per EN 62353

the time. When carrying out the inspection, you must also read and observe the operating
manual of the test equipment being used.
► Enter the type and serial number of the test equipment in the inspection log.
► The (test equipment) test probe is connected to the contactable conductive parts of the
control unit for all measurements. Connections for application parts (on the test
equipment) are connected to the end of the Barkey autoline XPT 4R. Ensure that the
autoline is not damaged while doing this.
► The measured values for insulation resistance and leakage current must be entered in
the inspection log.
► An evaluation is then carried out using the measurement results and taking earlier
measurements into account to ensure that the device complies with safety requirements.
5.2.4
Function testing and overtemperature inspection
There is an independent temperature sensor in every heating device. This sensor is continually monitored by the electronic system. If a fixed set temperature is exceeded, the
heater will be switched off permanently.
► To carry out the overtemperature inspection, the temperature sensors belonging to the
digital thermometer must be positioned in the Barkey autoline XPT 4R as for the
temperature inspection. This results in uniform heat release and a homogeneous
measured value.
► The heating device must be connected to channel 1.
► In the "service menu", select the "overtemp. inspection" menu option. Here the
electrical overtemperature triggering is checked. The function test is carried out simultaneously.
► The Barkey autoline XPT 4R is automatically warmed up to its maximum setpoint.
During this period, the display shows the flashing text "heating to max. setpoint
please wait !". This process can take between 5 and 10 minutes depending on the initial temperature of the heating device.

Cleaning ventilation
Dust deposits can build up on the ventilator and ventilation openings due to dust particles
in the surrounding air. The ventilation openings for air entry are underneath the device.
The ventilation openings for air discharge are in the handle recess. These can be blocked
by dust deposits forming on the ventilator. If air circulation is restricted by dust deposits
or a blocked ventilator, the housing can become overheated. If the temperature in the
housing rises too steeply, the electronics system switches off automatically. This condition is shown as an error (error number: 74). This error does not lead to damage to the
electronic system. It does not cause any hazard either.
The housing has to be opened up in order to clean the ventilation openings and the ventilator. (see Chapter 6.2)
Components can then be cleaned using a cotton bud or compressed air. Ensure that no
dust particles lodge themselves between the display and the front screen.
6.8
Replacing the battery
The battery must be replaced every 3 years. To do this, unscrew the housing (see Chapter 6.2).
A lithium battery of type CR 1225 (3 V / 48 mAh) is used.
The battery can be removed from or fitted into the battery holder without tools.
The time and date must be reset after replacing the batteries (see Chapters 3.5 and 3.6).
The language required must also be reselected for the particular user. (see Chapter 3.13)
NOTE
Old batteries must not be disposed of in domestic waste. Please take old batteries
back to the correct collection points or send them back to the manufacturer.

Service work on the autocontrol 3XPT controller
Replacing the microcontroller in the autocontrol 3XPT
All work on the electronics system must be carried out in an electrostatic dischargeprotected workstation.
Special removal tools are available for electronic components in the PLCC housing. To
avoid damage to the microcontroller and the IC socket, the microcontroller may only be
removed using this special removal tool.
The position of the microcontroller in the IC socket is predefined by the bevelled corner
on both components. This makes incorrect positioning almost impossible.
Bevelled corner
Figure 47: Positioning the PLCC socket and microcontroller
The microcontroller has been placed in the right position in the IC socket. It may only be
pressed into the socket when it is straight and sits evenly on all sides.
After the microcontroller has been successfully fitted, the "service menu" must be called
up on the initial start-up of the controller. It can be ended directly using the end button.

Cleaning and disinfection
The Barkey autocontrol 3XPT and the heating device are simple and easy to clean due to
their smooth surfaces and rounded corners.
The heating device surface must be cleaned and disinfection-wiped after every use.
WARNING
Before cleaning, disconnect the Barkey autocontrol 3XPT from the mains supply
by switching off the device with the mains power switch and then removing the
mains plug from the mains socket.
Never apply cleaning fluid or disinfectants directly to the device. Always moisten a
cloth and clean the devices using this cloth.
Never apply cleaning agents to the ventilation openings on the controller.
Never close up the controller ventilation openings with cleaning cloths!
Never use steam (i.e. in autoclaves), hot air or thermo-chemical cleaning solutions
to disinfect the control unit and the heating devices.
You should use standard commercial preparations based on alcohol without oxygenreleasing components (with sodium hydrochloride with 1.4% bleach solution or aldehyde
content < 0.2%) as a disinfectant.
► Clean the Barkey autocontrol 3XPT and the heating devices as far as possible with a
water / soap solution.
► Dry the surfaces and use a surface disinfectant. Observe the acting time stated by the
disinfectant manufacturer.
► After allowing the disinfectant to act, dry the device off with disposable tissues.
WARNING
You should never use any cleaning or decontamination processes except those recommended by the manufacturer without first checking with the manufacturer to see
whether these proposed processes will damage the device.
In addition to these recommendations, we refer you to the hygiene measures and
regulations set by your company.
