Atlas. I, Atlas, am a Titan who is responsible for carrying the weight of the heavens on my shoulders, a punishment that was imposed upon me by the father of all the gods, Zeus. I led the Titans in the Titanomachy, which was a war waged against the Gods of Olympus. Zeus and the Olympians were victorious, and many of my companions were prisoners in Tartarus, one of whom was my brother, Prometheus. He was condemned by the gods for having brought fire to the human race. During the Titanomachy, Uranus, the sky, had been shaken and was no longer able to hold itself in the air. So I was punished for holding the Celestial Sphere in place on the western edge of the Earth for all eternity, holding the heavens on my shoulders until the Titanomachy. I did not want to do this. As a result, I was sent to Hell. During this time, I was the Greek god of astronomy and navigation, but I was also considered the strongest of the Titans. Because of my immense strength, I was given the role of the leader of the Titans on the battlefield. The outcome of the war was inevitable. Despite my immense strength, the Titans, my allies, were eventually defeated when Zeus recruited the Cyclops and Hecatonchires to his side.
