Two Truths
and a Lie
TODAY'S AGENDA:
Develop a mental health awareness
plan to make sure that your workplace
is a safe and inclusive environment.
What is
Mental Health?
Is it a state of mind?
More Common
than You Think
1 in 5 adults
experienced a mental health
concern in the past year.
Mental
Health is
Integral
When we are mentally healthy, we
can realize our abilities, cope with
stress, work productively, and
contribute to society.
More than a
State of Mind
Having good mental health is more than the absence of
illness. Rather, it's a state of holistic well-being.
How Do I
Maintain Positive
Mental Health?
Practical tips and advice
Acknowledge
your feelings.
Connect
with others.
Develop Coping Skills
Take a deep
breath, then
relax.
Embrace
the
five senses.
Be in touch
with
your thoughts
and feelings.
Holistic
Healing
Treatments for mental
health problems vary.
It can include a mix of
therapy, medication, and
a support system.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO TALK ABOUT
MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE
Opening up about your mental health will help you to show how you
really feel, improve your relationships, and overcome challenges in
every aspect of your life.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF A COLLEAGUE IS
UNABLE TO TALK ABOUT MENTAL
HEALTH? IT MIGHT LEAD TO...
ANXIETY
STRESS
ISOLATION
HOW TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH
IN THE WORKPLACE
Here are some of my suggestions.
CREATE A MENTAL
HEALTH POLICY
A mental
health policy
can help
promote wellbeing, support
everyone, etc.
ENCOURAGE OPEN
CONVERSATIONS
Make sure there
is good
communication
between both
teaching and
non-teaching
personnel
PRIORITIZE WORKLIFE BALANCE
Encourage
everyone to
set boundaries
so they can
spend time
with their
families, etc.
ASK FEEDBACK
Empower
everyone to
actively
contribute and
provide
feedback on how
to improve
mental health.
TIPS FOR TEACHERS
Practicing
Self-Care
Staying healthy
in mind and body
is essential,
especially in this
current state of
the world.
What is
self-care?
Self-care is any activity we
actively choose to do to
take care of our physical,
mental and emotional
well-being.
Why do 01
we need
to
02
practice
selfcare?
Our well-being is important no matter
the circumstance or state of the world.
Self-care helps us manage stress better
and allows us to be more productive.
Taking care of ourselves helps us keep
a good work-life balance.
Areas of Self-Care
Mental
Tending to your mind
by practicing
mindfulness and
learning continuously
Physical
Tending to your
physical body
by keeping it
healthy
Emotional
Staying in touch or
fully engaging
with your
emotions
Social
Staying connected
with family
and friends
Mental Self-Care
TAKING CARE OF YOUR
MIND
01
Set a routine.
Schedule time
for online classes
as well as time
for reviewing
lessons and
doing homework.
02
Take breaks
during the day.
Take the time to
go offline and do
other things not
related to
classes.
03
Practice mindfulness
and take time for
mentally-relaxing
activities as well as
activities that
stimulate your
creativity.
SELF-CARE ALSO MEANS
BEING PATIENT WITH AND
KIND TO YOURSELF.
Self-care is
something we
enjoy doing and
not something we
feel forced to do.
Emotional
Self-Care
01
Acknowledge your feelings and know that they
are valid. Write them down in a journal or share
them with someone.
02
Practice gratitude. Think of at least three things
you are thankful for every day.
Physical Self-Care
Get enough
sleep
Eat well and eat
healthy
Exercise
regularly
Keep a bedtime
schedule
to give your body
the rest it needs
to recover.
Nourish your
body with
healthy food and
keep yourself
hydrated.
Set aside at least
30 minutes a day
to workout or to
simply move your
body.
Social
Self-Care
01
02
Maintain connections with other people
Reach out to someone every day.
Call or message a family member
or friend just to check in.
You can also think of selfcare as taking care of
yourself so you can better
take care of others.
Self-care activities
can range from
different activities.
The important thing
to remember about
self-care is that it is
about listening to
what your mind and
body need.
Physical Self-Care
Examples:
Eat a healthy meal
Engage in exercise
Go for a walk
Drink water
Practice good sleep
hygiene
Have a cup of tea
