The new 8th edition of the book was published by Pearson on 30th April 2018: Competitive advantages of the book – i.e. the two-models of strategy; the critical approach to strategy theory; the deeper, specialist chapters; and the global outlook - all retained in this new edition Major re-organization and simplification of the two emergent strategy chapters to (a) add new material on innovation and technology; (b) highlight the link between knowledge and learning more clearly; and (c) make a stronger link with network and co-operation strategies New material on Dynamic Capabilities in a shorter, more focused chapter 5 Global coverage of the cases kept: USA, UK, Europe, China, India, Middle East, Africa To make the book more reader-friendly, 100-page reduction in the size of the text. This has been undertaken through careful chapter editing plus removing some (but not all) of the long cases from the end of the previous edition to the book’s free website. The book’s free website - accessible at www.pearsoned.co.uk/lynch - has been revised and updated: (1) web-based cases with indicative answers retained and updated in many cases from 7th edition (2) Extra in-chapter web-based support material (3) Long cases from 7th edition which have been updated in some cases (4) Cases deleted from 7th edition. The new 8th edition has 14 new cases, 3 major updates plus around 20 cases with minor updates.
