The word “ideology” is composed of two Greek words “ideo” means “ideas” and “logos” means “Science”. Thus ideology means “the science or study of ideas”. An ideology is the set of aims and ideas that directs one’s goals, expectations and actions. Everybody has specific aim of life. To achieve the aim, a set of ideas provide guidance. It is social and political program of any movement that becomes a collective objective of any nation. The ideology of any nation reflects the ideals and aspirations of its people, religion and cultural shape, their thinking which binds them together. The Ideology of Pakistan The Ideology of Pakistan was the consciousness of the Muslims in the historical perspective of the south Asian sub-continent that they were a separate nation on the basis of the Islamic Ideology. Ideology of Pakistan is actually implementations of Islamic teachings. To maintain and arouse the national dignity and struggles for unity among Muslim Ummah and Islamic rule is in fact Ideology of Pakistan. Ideology of Pakistan based on the “Two Nation Theory” which up holds that Hindus and Muslims are two separate and distinct nations having their own culture, civilization, literature, religion and way of life, Muslims cannot merged with any other nation because their philosophy of life is based upon the principles of Islam. Quaid-e-Azam and Ideology of Pakistan Jinnah played a decisive role in articulating the Muslim demands and pursuing these faced strong opposition from the Hindus and the British. He started his political career in 1906 by joining the Indian National Congress. His early effort to promote Hindu Muslim unity were materialized when the LACKNOW PACT (1916) was signed. The Hindus accepted the Muslim demands. He struggled for the separate state on the bases of Islamic Ideology. He himself explained this basic ideology. Addresses of Jinnah Muhammad 1. Separate Status of the Muslims: In his address at Lahore on 23rd March 1940 it was clearly mentioned, “No Act or Law would be acceptable which deny the separate status of the Muslims.” 2. A Staunch supporter of the Two Nation Theory: He was a great supporter of two-nation theory and he considered the Muslims a separate nation from every aspect. He said: “The Muslims are a nation by every right to establish their separate homeland. They can adopt any mean to promote and protect their spiritual, moral, economic, social, political and cultural interests”. Allama Iqbal and Ideology of Pakistan Allama Iqbal is the famous National Poet of Pakistan. He is a great thinker and philosopher also. He was the first person in the sub-continent who present the Ideology of Pakistan. In 1930, Iqbal clearly discussed the “Two Nation Theory” as: • Islam: a code of conduct and way of life. • Muslims are separate nation. • Demand for a separate state. Iqbal believed that the teachings of the Holy Quran are highly meaningful for the shaping of mankind to the right pathway. Addresses of Allama Iqbal On March 1932, he said: “There is a need for improvement of Whole Ummah so that we can accomplish our hope as well as attains our aims firstly we have to change our procedures, we all know that God does not help those who do not help them we do not expect success in any field without the academic independence.” In Allahabad address, he said: “India is the continent of human beings belonging to different races, speaking different languages and professing different religions….I, therefore, demand the formation of the consolidated Muslim state in the best interest of India and Islam.” Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and Ideology of Pakistan Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a great Muslim leader and philosopher. He was the first man in sub-continent history to introduce a word “Two Nations” for Muslims and Hindus and introduce an idea to become a pioneer of Two Nation Theory. He tried his best for the Muslims comprehend their differences with the Hindus with many expects including religion, social language and International identity and for this reason he diverted attention of the Muslims towards “Two Nation Theory”. The possibly main reason for which Sir Syed introduced this theory is the downfall of Muslims, Muslims Hindus controversy, language problem and the hatred by Hindu and British upon Muslims of South Asia. He came with Two Nation Theory and declared that Muslim were a separate Nation. He said: “I am convinced now that Hindus and Muslims could never become one nation as their religion and way of life was quite distinct from each other.” THANK YOU
