LESSON PLAN ABOUT TYPES OF MIXTURES
(HOMOGENEOUS AND HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURE)
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. Identify the homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures
b. Differentiate homogeneous from heterogeneous mixture
c. Give other examples of homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic : Types of Mixture (Homogeneous and Heterogeneous mixture)
b. Reference : Grade 7 Learners Module and Integrated Science
c. Materials : Cartolina, food color, marker, cooking oil, plastic cups, plastic spoons, pictures, sago, sugar
and water.
d. Science Processes : Identifying, Differentiating and Giving
e. Science Concept : Mixture is a physical combination of two or more substances.
Homogeneous mixture is a mixture that is the same throughout its container and its
substances cannot be separated.
Heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that is different throughout its container and its
substances can be separated.
f. Value Focus : Appreciate the importance of mixtures in everyday activities

* Do you want to know more about mixtures?
B. Activity Proper
Group the students into 4
Distribute the Activity sheets and materials
Students will be given 7 minutes to do the activity
1. Group Activity
2. Activity Sheet
Procedure: Make a table for the activity
1. Fill the plastic cup with water.
2. Add a teaspoon of (provided substance). Stir well.
2. Observe what happened. (Write your observation in the table)
3. Identify if it is homogeneous or heterogeneous mixture.
4. Give other examples.
3. Analysis
Group 1 to Group 4
What are the substances in Group 1 to 4?
What did you do with the substances?
After mixing, what have you observed?
Can you identify the substances being mixed? In Group 1? 2? 3?4?
What type of mixture you have in group 1? 2? 3? 4?
Why did you say that it is homogeneous?
Give other examples of homogeneous mixture.
Why did you say that it is heterogeneous?
Give other examples of heterogeneous mixture.
Can you differentiate homogeneous from heterogeneous?
What is the difference?
3. Abstraction
What are the two types of mixture?
Differentiate homogeneous from heterogeneous mixture.
4. Application
Do you think mixture is important in our daily life?
How can you appreciate the importance of mixtures?
How important is it to you?
How important is it at home?
