Inference Think about the assigned source that you observed and answer the following questions. • Why do you think the source was created? What evidence tells you why it was made? Do you notice any biases presented in the source? Perhaps it was created to depict the scene the voyagers first arriving to the islands. • Based on what you have observed above, what is one thing you might infer about the source? The sailors may have observed the animals beforehand to be able to hunt them. • What is one thing the source tells you about life in the place and time it was created? Life was primitive, because people still use spear to hunt animals. Questions Think about what you already know about the topic addressed in the primary source you observed. • How does this source relate to your prior knowledge? Numerous species have gone extincted or endangered because of human’s arrival. • What questions does the source raise in your mind? Why did the sailors disrupt the ecosystem? For food? Survival?
