Below are the rules for each of the Science labs at Macleans College. You must follow these rules at all times for the safety of yourself and your class mates. Your teacher might also give you some other rules too! 1. Line up quietly outside the classroom at the start of every lesson. 2. Enter the class only when given permission from a teacher. 3. Line up with your gear ready for the lesson – your bags live outside the lab! 4. Walk sensibly when moving around the laboratory – do not run! 5. The preparation room is out of bounds for students. 6. Use safety glasses when using chemicals with the Bunsen burner. 7. Do not eat or drink in the laboratory. 8. Use protective equipment such as tongs or test tube holders and heatproof mats. 9. Keep the noise level down. 10. Do not make up your own experiments. 11. Take good care of the equipment – report any breakages or spills to the teacher. 12. Return all equipment to the correct place. 13. Wash hands well after handling chemicals and equipment. 14. Report all accidents immediately to the teacher. 15. Follow instructions carefully (check the white board) 16. Make sure you participate in the experiment – its all part of science!
