As a public enterprise, LH has been working towards its mission of providing
better housing and work facilities by building affordable and quality housing
while developing land efficiently.
Established in 1 October 2009, LH shares the same core values with Korea
National Housing Corporation and Korea Land Corporation. These public
enterprises, established in 1962 and 1975 respectively, have tried to improve
residential stability of ordinary people and develop land for economic growth.
LH has been improving the quality of people’s lives and contributing to
Korea’s economic development.

LH has built 2.43 million housings and established residential areas,
new cities, industrial complexes, etc.
Also, we have been working hard to provide convenience to people by
building various infrastructures such as roads, water and sewerage facilities,
public parks, and schools.
LH continues to strive to create better environment for work and living.
LH has been actively promoting housing welfare through our rental housing
projects. For instance, our “Happy Housing” project is part of our constant
efforts to ease people’s worries about the cost of housing.

The Happy Housing project is to
construct multi-functional residential
complexes, which also provide work and
commercial areas. The new 2013 Happy
Housing project is aimed to meet various
rental housing demands by diversifying
preferred applicants to include university
students, newly married couples, young
professionals and others.
Leader of Happy Housing, LH
The Happy Housing project, as a
residential complex town, is not confined
to residential housing, but provides
commercial and work facilities. It will
not only contribute to job creation, but
also to fulfill its role as a local community
revitalization point, creating a chance to
improve the quality of life of the people
around it.
As one of the main projects of the new
government, the Happy Housing project
selected seven pilot districts (Oryu,
Gajwa, Gongreung, Gojan, Mokdong,
Jamsil, Songpa) in 7 May 2013. Starting
from these seven areas, the happy
housing will be extended to local major
cities. By successfully launching the
Happy Housing project, we have become
the leader in happy housing welfare.
Happy Housing project is different from
existing public housing built around new
satellite towns and sites. As it is located
at the heart of the city, Happy Housing
will be an ideal residence close to the
workplace of young professionals in
the city.

been possible by renting out housing
constructed, leased or purchased by
LH. Tenants can choose among diverse

demand such as studio-type housing

housing on deposit basis for university

New Town Project is a nationwide
land development project to
promote self-sufficiency,
pleasantness, convenience and
safety of cities.
New Town Project
To address lack of housing supply
and to stabilize the housing market,
our New Town project creates largescale housing sites around metropolitan
areas. Planning is the key point of our
New Town project, and LH is putting
efforts to prevent sprawling disorganized
development. It aims to bring efficient

The first and second generations of

afford their own houses. Also we build various
types of rental housings to meet the needs
of ordinary people.
Stabilizing Housing Market and
Expanding Rental Housing Units
Since KHNC’s foundation in 1962
up the end of 2012, LH has been
contributing to the stabilization of the
housing market and housing stability
by supplying 2.43 million housings (1.18
million housings for sale, 1.25 million
rental housings). This is almost 13.4%
of all housings (18.13 million housings)
in Korea.
For households with sufficient income
to buy a house, LH helps them to
have their own houses by supplying
affordable houses for sale.
Public Lot-solid Housings
For households with insufficient income
to buy a house, we provide various
types of public rental housings based
on their income.
LH owns a total of 702,000 housings,
which is 47% of all rental housings
in Korea-1,487 thousands. LH will
constantly increase the rental housing
proportion up to that of advanced
countries and contribute to the housing
stability in the country.
LH promotes non-homeowners to
have their own by supplying small &
medium-sized housings.

Logistics Complex
LH develops state and general local
complexes, creating jobs and serving as
a driving force for economic development
and balanced growth of Korea. LH
supports government’s policies, and
takes part in site selection, acquisition,
development and supplies land for local
and state industrial complexes. Currently
we are undertaking 13 projects.
To promote the logistics industry, we
help to arrange and manage facilities
efficiently, and supply land. LH takes part
in site selection, development planning,
process planning, land acquisition and
supply. We have completed 6 logistics
complexes since its foundation.

To promote foreign investments, LH
takes part in creating an Economic
Free Zone which improves business
friendly environment and living conditions
of foreign investors, resulting in the
enhancement of national competitiveness
and balanced development. This project
is a comprehensive development project,

industrial cluster, technology innovation,
finance, etc.

Overseas Project
To become a pioneer in overseas
markets, LH supports foreign expansion
of Korean firms to expand to global
urban development market. LH makes a
consortium with small and medium-sized
businesses which have difficulty to enter
the foreign market. Furthermore, through
governmental and technical support, we
provide various consulting services.
Inter-Korean Development Project
LH also participates in ODA; and shares
its experience in developing cities,
housings and industrial complexes to
developing countries. We support our
partner countries in planning development
and invite foreign public servants to
Korea, passing down LH’s accumulated
know-how.
Combining South Korea’s capital &
technology and North Korea’s manpower,
LH participates in Gaeseong Industrial
Complex Project for common prosperity
and cooperation. As a first phase of the
project, we completed 3.3 million m2
of complex. The second phase will be
carried out with governmental policies.

Land Management System
for Optimized Land Utilization
LH leads in establishing a land information system that can promote better
utilization of land. LH runs Land Bank and LH Housing Land Development
Institute to carry out the efficient utilization of Korea’s land.
Land Bank
Land bank is a nationwide land supply
control system that preemptively
purchases and reserves land in
preparation of massive land development
or supply control. Land Bank also plays
roles in various fields related to land
reserve including land supply and demand
research, public land reserve planning,
supply, reserve feasibility research &
analysis, promotion of reserved land
information system, support of land
reserve research, etc.

Housing Complex
Since 2010, LH operates study cafés for
children in 33 rental housing complexes.
We provide children from low-income
families a conducive environment for
a high-quality education.
Rental Housing Children
Mentoring
LH runs a mentoring program for children
from low-income families.
A university student volunteer visits these
families weekly, teaches and facilitates
educational activities to improve
the socialization of children.
Meals for Rental Housing Children
During school vacations when school
meals are not available, LH provides
healthy food to children and also operates
basic educational and cultural programs
for children.
Shared Love, Happiness Filled
Volunteer Activity
To help senior citizens living alone and
other vulnerable people during holidays
and winter, we deliver LH-produced
Kimchi, rice, coal briquettes and
other groceries.
Repair of Flood Damage
Scars remain long in the hearts of
people after natural disasters like
typhoon and flood etc. To help them,
LH built its own disaster emergency
recovery protocol and is participating
in volunteer activities to overcome
nationwide disaster.
Housing Repair for the Socially
Vulnerable Class
In cooperation with the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructures, and Transportation,
LH has repaired and improved 24,500
housings of the socially vulnerable
class, while also aiming to revitalize local
construction business.

In 2009, Land Museum and Housing
and City Museum were integrated and
transformed into a Land & Housing
Museum. Exhibits follow the theme of
‘The history of Korean architecture,
engineering and construction.’
The Museum reserves and researches
the heritage relating to land and
architecture. It also takes part in running
educational programs and archaeological
