Agenda - Discussing the impact of the Russo-Ukrainian war and solution to ensure peace
The currently unfolding Ukrainian crisis is one that has and continuous to completely destroy the
lives of tens of thousands of lives if not thousands of lives. The delegate of Saudi Arabia extends
his most heartfelt sympathies to all those involved. The invasion of Ukraine threatens to destroy
the era of peace and prosperity that we have enjoyed for so long and therefore, this committee's
goal should be to put an end to it. Saudi Arabia maintains its complete neutrality in this issue.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia while leaning towards neither Russia nor Ukraine is fully devoted
to the ending of the war and will do its part in helping to accomplish this.
Past activities
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with one major exception, has remained neutral regarding the
war. The KSA abstained from voting on a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in
the UN Security Council and again on a resolution demanding the withdrawal of Russian troops
from Ukraine. This is not to say that the KSA has never taken a stance, for one the KSA is
devoted to helping the real victims of the war. The KSA has provided Ukraine with food,
medicine, shelter and humanitarian assistance.
Despite its attempts to maintain neutrality on the 7th of April 2022 the KSA voted in favor of a
resolution to suspend Russia from the UNHRC.
