What Have I Learned Paper
Directions: Answer the following questions. Your responses may be submitted in written, audio
or video form.
1. Give examples of what you have learned (at least 3 examples). So much have been
achieved so far in this class, I learned about the cultural differences in perceiving pain
which is so interesting to know in order to deal with diverse patient populations. I also
learned about the therapeutic ways of dealing with pain such as meditation, yoga, and
acupuncture. And lastly, I was so happy to understand who a pain management nurse is,
and the education and training needed to be one.
2. What else do you want to learn and/or research that will assist you in caring for your
patients? I will be interested to learn how to improve the quality of life while being in
chronic pain because more often I see patients suffering from chronic pain and some
becoming frustrated about life. looking at how painful it is dealing with pain it is
important to be able to know how as a nurse I can improve the quality of the patient's life,
and how to live a happy life with chronic pain.
3. What now? How will I use this knowledge with my future patients? (give at least 2
examples), Firstly, I will need to understand that pain in subjective and treat the patient
pain exactly the way they tell me that it is without being judgmental about them. And I
will use this information to comfort my patients especially by using therapeutic means to
help my patients in managing their pain.
