NAME : TLOTITSO SURNNAME : MPHOMELA STUDENT NO : 202101291 COURSE CODE : PAC 211 TITTLE : DETERMINATION OF THE FORMULA FOR THE COMPLEX COPPER(II)AMMINE ION DUE DATE : 16 MAY 2023 INTRODUCTION A powdery, light blue precipitate of copper(II) hydroxide forms when concentrated ammonia solution (ammonium hydroxide) is added to a clear, light blue aqueous solution of copper(II) chloride. With the addition of more ammonia, the copper ion returns to solution as a deep blue ammonia complex. The addition of 12M sulfuric acid reverses the changes caused by the copper hydroxide precipitate, returning the solution to its original clear, light blue colour. ABSTRACT RESULTS • 1 mol/L of ammonia solution. • 0.1 mol/L solution of copper(II) salt. • Volumes obtained during experiment Volume(mol/L) 1^st Titration 2^nd Titration 3^rd Titration Initial 40 ml 11 ml 16.7 ml Final 11 ml 16.7 ml 25.1 ml Total 7 ml 5.7 ml 8.4 ml CALCULATIONS
