ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS Transfer students must be in good standing at the last college attended and should present at least a 2.5 GPA (students with a 2.0 2.49 will be given serious consideration). • Students majoring in Nursing or Education must meet minimum cumulative GPA of at least (2.8 for nursing and a 2.75 for education) in order to meet requirements for admission into the major. • Transfer applicants, except those who completed high school more than eight years ago, should send high school transcripts. • Transfer students with less than 12 hours and who have been out of high school for less than two years should submit ACT or SAT scores and high school transcripts. Students who have less than 30 semester hours should send high school transcripts. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR BUSINESS AND EDUCATION MAJORS Students planning on majoring in Business or Education should consult the Business Packet or the Education Packet found at www.harpercollege.edu/transfer for additional transfer requirements. FOREIGN LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT All students planning on graduating from Elmhurst College must complete either two years of the same language with passing grades of D or better in high school or one year of the same language at the college level with passing grades of D or better in college. TRANSFER CREDIT Transfer of credit is awarded on a course-by-course basis. Students from community colleges may transfer a maximum of 70 semester hours toward the minimum course requirements at Elmhurst. Elmhurst participates in IAI and will consider 7 of the 9 Areas of Knowledge (general education subject areas) fulfilled with the completion of an Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree, or Associate of General Studies degree. All transcripts will be reviewed on a course by course basis. IAI courses will be accepted providing that the course is completed with a D or better. CALCULATION OF ADMISSION GRADE POINT AVERAGE Elmhurst College will calculate their own GPA based on transferrable courses. In the event that a course is repeated only the last attempt will be calculated into the GPA regardless if the grade is higher or not. Courses do not need to be repeated at the same institution. Scholarships are based on the grade-point average attained in previous college-level work and the number of semester hours earned.
