Meet Lindsay
Hi! I'm Lindsay, and I was a high school math teacher for 8 years.
Currently, I create math resources and resource templates full time. I also
train math teachers how to create math resources in my course Math
Resource Academy! If you want to learn how to create your own
resources, connect with me at LindsayBowden.com.

Teacher Tips
•
•
There are two versions:
• The first version (pgs. 3-4) is the easier version.
• The second version (pgs. 5-6) has the same words, but it also asks
students to give a definition of the terms in their own words.
If you have a smaller class, it’s fun to allow them to walk around
the school and find objects. I always get permission from an
administrator first.
•
Before the scavenger hunt, I tell students to look over all the words. If
there is a word they don’t know, we talk about it and answer any questions.
•
If students can’t find an object in the classroom or school, I let
them use objects they’ve seen in the real world. I don’t allow
phones.
•
After the scavenger hunt, I have each students share one of their objects.
•
Discussion questions to have after the scavenger hunt:
1.
What’s the difference between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional
shapes? (Example rectangle and rectangular prism)
2. Was your example of a line truly a line? (Did it continue forever in
both directions?)
3. How could you prove that your example of perpendicular lines are
actually perpendicular?
4. Are real life objects sometimes different than the geometric shapes?
How so?
5. Can you think of a geometric object that wasn’t on your scavenger
hunt and a real life example?
6. Can any of the your examples work for more than one word?
(Examples:
rectangle and parallelogram, scalene triangle and acute triangle)
