TMQ-PEN-0153 Sheet 2 of 3 After compressor shutdown, the system will go to settle-out pressure conditions. The external dry seal gas (propane) for the compressor is provided from the Propane Accumulator (599-D-0013). Accumulator operating pressure is 174 - 293 psig. Since the compressor system is isolated, the dry seal gas will leak to the process side. Compressor system will get pressurized to the seal gas supply pressure, eventually. The compressor restart-up pressure is required to be lower (i.e. either settle out pressure or less) than the seal gas supply pressure. Higher start-up pressure requires higher start-up torque, which demands in high power consumption. The flare diversion valve will be used to reduce the compressor system pressure so that the compressor can be re-started from the settle out pressure. (c) Miscellaneous: The diversion valve can also be used for other miscellaneous requirements during compressor commissioning, maintenance, purging, inerting etc. 2. CONTRACTOR's Proposal As stated in Para.1 in this TMQ, CONTRACTOR would like to propose : - To provide a diversion valve for Propane Refrigerant Compressors (599-K-0001A/B). - The diversion valve will be designed for 10% of the compressor rated flow considering the above mentioned requirements in Para. 1 Please refer to Attachment-2 for P&ID markup of the typical diversion valve arrangement. 3. Clarification Required COMPANY is requested to confirm if CONTRACTOR's proposal is acceptable. If COMPANY accepts CONTRACTOR's proposal, positive cost impact is expected.
