VASQUEZ, TIMOTIE XENA S. N18 CC211 BADANG NI IGNACIO The environment itself was very calming and peaceful. I saw the activity as a way to relax and be in a fresh environment. There was nothing disturbing about the area and I think that it has been maintained very well by the care-takers. During the outreach activity, I was very at ease because I was with my block mates. When we were doing our tasks, it felt good to know that whatever I was doing will help the people in the area. Also, while waiting for the others to finish, we roamed around the place and it was very refreshing. It had been months since I felt the fresh air and quiet surrounding. I appreciated that Ateneo invests in nature. While I was enjoying the scenery at the area, I thought if how God beautifully created nature. And how harsh and ugly we, humans, treat it for our personal advantages. It is important to realize that we are studying not just to have a stable job in the future but also to give back our blessings to the environment using our knowledge. During the outreach activity, I had more external motivation that internal. The internal factors that motivated me to work hard during the activity was to make myself feel that I had made an effort to help the community. I have not been very active on other outreach activities which made me a bit guilty. The external factors that influenced me to work hard during the activity were to do what others were doing and to finish early. I felt very accomplished not only because we helped the community but also seen how teamwork can make anything possible. Even though it only lasted for a day the happiness we shared would always remain in my heart. Seeing those smiles made me realize that the activity was a success, worth the effort. I realized how an experience could be extraordinary by simply being with the farmers and making them happy even for a while. I became inspired to persevere more in life so that I can be a big help for them in the future. It was very fulfilling that in our own simple ways; we were able to help and made the farmers feel that some people care for them. The experiences and memories I gained on that NSTP outreach program are something I will cherish and it would be disappointing if I never got to go and miss this chance. Badang ni Ignacio is one of the things that I am proud of as an Atenean. The community could have invested money on some other platforms that they could make income from. I am proud that I helped the community and the environment. I hope that Ateneo will continue doing such programs to help not only Badang ni Ignacio but other communities that are in need.
