Mainstream Support
SAP Data Services 4.x follows the “7+2” Maintenance Model. For more information refer to Appendix 3 of this document.
Data Services 4.3 has End of Mainstream Support in December 2025 and End of Priority 1 Support at least until Dec 2027.
Data Services supports the latest active Support Package (SP) and one back. The table below shows active/inactive SP version and the latest patch release date.
How to read this table:
• SP releases in grey rows have reached end of mainstream maintenance.
• SP releases in green rows are active. The Last Patch Release Dates are proposed dates and subject to change without notice.
• SP releases in yellow rows are in development and have not released. The RTC dates indicated are proposed dates and subject to change without notice.
• The Last Patch Release Date for an SP typically follows the RTC date of its “SP+2” successor. For example, the Last Patch Release Date for SP00 follows the RTC
Date of SP02. Change in the successor’s RTC Date may result in a change to the predecessor’s Last Patch Release Date and its number of patches.
Best practice:
• Use the highest available patch within the highest available Active Release, which has the most up-to-date features, enhancement, and fixes. SAP Data Services
patches are downloadable from SAP’s Support Portal. The base version (Patch 0_ and the latest 2 patches are available for download.
• Use the same Data Services Client Tools as the Data Services Server version. However, the different Data Services Client Tools versions within the same SP will work
unless specified otherwise.

SBOP Edge BI 4.3 with DI/DM 4.3
Edge Solution Overview and Bill of Materials
SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI with Data Integration (DI) or Data Management (DM) delivers with SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI to enable data
integration or data quality management (including Information Steward) capabilities for mid market customers.
The Edge solutions can be deployed on a single server (up to 250 named users or 50 Concurrent Sessions) and must be deployed either:
(a)
on the same server where the corresponding SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI product is deployed, or
(b)
on a separate server having up to 8 cores.

Note: The platform versions listed in this page correspond with the platform versions certified by SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4.3 (see the SAP Business Objects BI
Platform 4.3 Product Availability Matrix and reference the “Server Components by Operating System” section. The versions listed in this page have gone through formal internal
testing by Data Services for “direct support.” SAP will grant “compatible support” for higher incremental version releases as long as the platform vendor guarantees compatibility
to the previous platform’s version that is directly supported by SAP. Please note that Major or Minor Releases of OS are not eligible for “compatible support.” For more details,
please refer to the attachment (PDF) in KBA 1429999, “Support Policy Guide for SAP BusinessObjects Products 2010.pdf” and see the sections, “Level of Support” and “OS
version identification matrix”, and Appendix 11.

(3) This is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SuSE Minor version that Data Services certified. Redhat and SuSE state the installation of packages between minor releases is
supported. Hence Data Services will grant “compatible support” with other Red Hat/SuSE higher and lower minor versions within the same major version based on Red
Hat’s/SuSE’s eligibility statement of minor version compatibility.
(4) Data Services supports Red Hat 8.x in a standalone environment which can use the remote CMS running on the BI supported Red Hat platform. BI can run on a separate
system. Refer to the BI 4.3 PAM for the supported Red Hat platform.
(5) SAP BusinessObjects Edge products are supported on Windows and Linux operating systems only. SAP BusinessObjects Edge products are not supported on AIX and
Solaris operating systems.
(6) SAP Data Services 4.3 is supported on Windows and Linux operating systems only. SAP Data Services 4.3 is not supported on AIX and Solaris operating systems. For more

Information Steward 4.x
Maintenance Strategy Overview
SAP Data Services (DS) and Information Steward (IS)
maintenance goals and strategy are aligned with SAP
Business Intelligence (BI) Platform maintenance model
(refer to this SCN article). However, the frequency of
release cycles/types (Minor, Support Package, Patch) is
slightly different as SAP DS and IS maintenance based
on customer’s demand.
This appendix highlights the key points of the DS and IS
maintenance strategy. It describes various delivery
vehicles along with their content, frequency, & lifetime.
The high level maintenance release roadmap is also
covered to help customers with their future upgrade
plans.
The forward fit (up-port) strategy has also evolved in the
last few years. This strategy is explained in the final
section of this appendix.

2025 and End of Priority 1 Support is December 31, 2027. If no new Data Services
major/minor version (i.e. 4.4 or 5.x) is released at least one year prior to the End of
Mainstream Support date, then this date will be extended, to continue to support the
product.

demands. We support the current Service
Pack (SP) and the previous SP. We
encourage users to upgrade to the latest
SP so they are ready to install the next
patch. We plan patches for the latest active
SP. We plan patch releases for SPs based
only on customer business justification.

What is a Forward-fit (up port)?
➢ A fix done in a patch, support package, or release that is also delivered to later patches, support
packages, or releases.

Why do we forward fit (up port) fixes?
➢ To ensure customers do not run into regressions when upgrade or update their systems.

DS/IS 4.x forward fit strategy in a nutshell:
➢ Patch fixes are forward fitted to active higher Patches and SPs
➢ SP fixes are forward fitted to latest unreleased SPs on higher minor releases
