Target close-up details within descriptive writing—Reveal several postcards, photographs, or images of a similiar scene. Challenge students
to write descriptive pieces with such precise detail that the reader can identify which scenes they were describing. Note how much more challenging it is to describe something in black and white. With the absence of color, the writer must rely on other adjectives and specific nouns to zero in on his subject.
