The company is well-known for providing a diverse range of items such as beverages, sauces, canned meals, and more. Yeo Hiap Seng has a long history that began in 1900 as a small food and beverage business. Yeo Hiap Seng has evolved and extended its product offerings throughout the years, becoming a well-known and renowned brand. The company is known for its dedication to quality, taste, and innovation. It offers a diverse range of successful consumer items, and its beverages and culinary products are popular in a variety of markets. The ability of Yeo Hiap Seng Limited to adapt to changing consumer demands and market trends while offering high-quality and delicious products has contributed to the company's success. The company's reputation and legacy position it as a major leader in the food and beverage business, demonstrating its dedication to excellence and consumer satisfaction. 1.2 COMPANY BACKGROUND The company name is Yeo Hiap Seng, also known as Yeo’s. Yeo’s was set up by the founder Mr Yeo Keng Lian in 1900. Mr Yeo Keng Lian started the Yeo’s business in China at a little shop. The first product he made at his little shop was making soy sauce out of Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. The company was relocated from China to "Nanyang" by the YEO family in the 1930s. Due to its unwavering commitment to providing the best soy sauce to customers, the company soon saw success and the product swiftly rose to the status of a staple in many Singaporeans' daily diets. Yeo’s primary business activities are food and beverages. Their products consist of soy sauce, traditional soy bean milk and they expand many other Asian beverages. Other than that they expand into food ranging from chilli sauce, culinary sauce, sesame oil to instant noodles. 1.3 MISSION AND VISION ● MISSION Yeo’s mission is to expand together with the people they serve. Yeo’s business is to provide the highest quality value when serving the needs of its customers by knowing about changing lifestyle trends and shifting demographics before introducing new products. ● VISION Yeo’s vision is to be the best Asian company by providing freshly bought foods and beverages with natural deliciousness to their customers. ● STRATEGIES Yeo’s had planned a few strategies to accomplish their mission and vision that had been established: 1. Synonymous with the highest quality Yeo's brand has established itself as a standard for a wide range of delicious and satisfying food and beverage options. They produce their goods using premium-quality ingredients combined through production procedures that thoroughly follow internationally recognized standards for quality assurance and safety, such as the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) framework. These procedures also represent culinary expertise. 2. Fulfilling the demands of an evolving demographic Yeo makes it a point to understand the changing lifestyle trends and preferences of a dynamically changing demographic landscape, adeptly fitting the growing tastes, preferences, and requirements of an ever-shifting population into research and product development activities. 3. Creating future innovation Innovation is the key to Yeos business's promise to offer better and more innovative new products that are appealing to an increasing number of potential customers. Their objective is to maintain the tradition of achieving business success while continuously remaining contemporary and modern for the future. 1.4 CORE VALUES 1. Fair Labor Practices Yeo's does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, or nationality. In all of their factories and offices, they are committed to guaranteeing fair labour standards, diversity, and inclusion. In terms of gender diversity, given the nature of the sector, where a significant amount of their workforce is employed in manufacturing and supply chain activities, the gender balance tends to favour males. Yeo's has around 1781 employees in every region we operate in as of December 2022, with a large percentage of employees ranging in age from 30 to 50 years old. 2. Development of Employees In accordance with Yeo's core business strategy, they promote human capital development through improving employee competences and capacities through programs such as Core Value Workshops, Virtual Developmental Module Training (DMT), and Internal Subject Matter Expert Training (ISME). The DMT focuses on general skill refinement through modules such as Effective Habits, Problem Solving, and Leadership, allowing employees to apply essential ideas in their employment. ISME provides specialised training that broadens knowledge beyond occupational scope. Furthermore, Yeo's Self-Help Online Ready E-Learning (SHORE) program promotes adaptable self-learning, which contributes to a development mindset. Core Value Workshops reached 526 workers in 2022; DMT engaged 352 employees; ISME educated 1,391 people; and SHORE encouraged open online learning. 3. Safe Environment Yeo's focuses on workplace health and safety, especially in manufacturing and supply chain operations with inherent safety concerns. Comprehensive training, seminars, and awareness programs are used to build a strong safety culture, creating an attitude of "All Accidents are Preventable" and "Safety First." Accidents are extensively investigated, root cause analysis is performed, and corrective actions, such as safety training and briefings, are implemented. Inspections and safety committee meetings on a regular basis assure compliance and continual development, and recognition programs promote safe behaviours. The commitment to safety is emphasised by prominently displaying safety slogans and devoting large hours to safety training, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring a safe working environment. 1.5 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) Several sustainable development goals of Yeo's are connected to related material issues, ensuring that our sustainability initiatives are in line with the greater UN objectives. 1. Water Management Yeo’s approach is to look for new water management solutions, including water-saving and recycling projects, in their overall water stewardship activities and practices at their manufacturing facilities. Yeo’s target is to reduce water consumption by 10% (per unit of product) and recycle 100% of the beverage packaging used by 2026. 2. Carbon Management Yeo’s is dedicated to lowering their carbon footprint and utilising renewable energy sources to increase current energy consumption. They are always exploring ways to reduce the carbon footprint of Yeo’s products and packaging materials with their suppliers. Their target is to reduce energy consumption by 5% and emissions by 10% (per unit of product) by 2026. 3. Occupational Health and Safety Yeo’s goal is to give establishing a culture of safety among all of their workers the greatest importance and enact strict safety rules and procedures to reduce safety hazards. They adopt fair labour practices and have zero tolerance for discrimination. Yeo’s invests in the training and development of its employees to enhance their competencies and provide their employees with a safe and conducive working environment for them to excel in their respective fields. 4. Product Quality and Safety Since protecting product quality and safety is Yeo’s top concern in the food and beverage industry, we have implemented strict controls on our purchasing and production procedures. Yeo’s target for food recalls is zero incidents of product trade recalls due to safety issues for YHS’ manufactured products. 5. Economic Performance Yeo’s is committed to generating long-term financial value for their investors while also sharing that value with other parties, such as Yeo’s employees through wages, the government through taxes, investors through dividends, suppliers through purchases, and communities through CSR initiatives. Yeo's will continue to give back more to the areas where we operate, whether it is via volunteer work or financial contributions. They also want to raise our people to be kindhearted people who actively contribute to society. 6. Fraud, bribery, corruption, and breaking the law are all unacceptable to us. As a result of this strategic initiative, each process cycle's heating and cooling now use an outstanding 45% less water. This helps Yeo achieve the goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions while also relieving pressure on the cooling tower and boiler systems. Additionally, they demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability by moving from light fuel oil to natural gas boilers, an important action that supports Yeo's boiler conversion efforts. Yeo supports a greener concept while reducing their reliance on the grid for energy by using natural gas boilers. Additionally, their goal to improve operational performance while lowering environmental impact is supported by their dedication to incorporating renewable energy. Yeo's is committed to upholding high standards of quality and continuously developing its procedures, ensuring an unwavering commitment to excellence in the manufacture of food and beverages. Additionally, Yeo's received authorization from the Department of Veterinary Services, Malaysia, and now its meat, egg, and milk products have been authorised with the Veterinary Health Mark ("VHM"). The prestigious Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab Industri ("MeSTI") certification is also held by Yeos. Yeo's focus is on improved health properties that include practical advantages, natural ingredients, and lower sugar or calorie content.
