In this document guidance is given for the following:
Welding procedures and welders qualifications:
DNVGL-OS-C401: 2017 is the leading standard for welding procedure and welders qualifications.
Chapter 2 section 3 gives requirements for welders qualifications, and chapter 2 section 5 gives
requirements for welding procedure qualifications.
All welding procedures and qualified welders used for the Moray East jacket project executed by
Smulders and their subcontractors do fully comply to the requirements as set in this standard,
allowing to execute welding in all positions within the limits as given in these sections.
For NDT also DNVGL-OS-C401: 2017 is the leading standard.
Chapter 2 section 7 gives requirements for NDT on welds.
Smulders confirms that the used procedures for execution of NDT as well as the operators are in full
compliance with this section in the standard.
Chapter 2 section 7 also leads to DNVGL-CG-0051 requirements for test methods.
Test methods used for the project are: UT, MT, PT, and VT testing.
Smulders confirms that execution of NDT is in full compliance with this standard also, including the
additional requirement for UT as set in section 6 paragraph 3 in regard to personnel testing TKY joints
(skill test).
Finally it must be known that all welds in the jacket structure categorized as being special and
primary circumferrential welds are being 100% tested according the requirements and acceptance
criteria as set in above mentioned standards.
