JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TOUR GUIDING COMPETITION
September 14, 2023 1:30pm at the City Coliseum
1. The Junior High School Tour Guiding Competition is organized by Escalante City
Tourism Office, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
2. The competition is on September 14, 2023, at 1:30 pm at the City Coliseum.
3. One (1) representative per High School is allowed.
4. Each participant shall submit a duly filled out Official Entry Form.
5. The birth certificate of the participant must be attached to the entry form.
6. Those who have won 1st place/champion in the past three years’ provincial Tourism
Week tour guiding competition shall be disqualified from joining.
7. Official entry forms must be submitted on or before September 1, 2023, Friday at
Escalante City Tourism Office, 2nd Floor, Escalante City Hall, or by email at
escalantetourism@gmail.com
8. For the contest proper, the participants will present the City of Escalante.
9. Escalante City Tourism Office will prepare a list of 12 attractions/destinations in
Escalante City.
10. The Escalante City Tourism Office will provide photos and descriptions of the
attractions/destinations to the judges.
11. For the contest proper, the participants will pick out a piece of paper during the
competition that contains the name of the four attractions the moment his or her number
is called on stage.
12. The contestant will present to the audience as if he/she is talking to a group of foreign
tourists.
13. Each contestant is allotted a maximum of (5) minutes for his / her presentation,
including the introduction and closing statements.
14. One point for every 30 seconds of overtime will be deducted from the total score.
15. The presentation must be delivered in English.
16. Substitution of contestants is not allowed during the competition.

17. Contestants from Jr. High School shall wear their complete school uniform during the
competition.
18. The contestant must register an hour before the competition starts. Tour Guiding notes
will not be allowed as soon as the contestants are seated in the waiting area.
19. The organizing committee shall choose the three judges who are experts in the field.
20. The decision of the judges shall be final and irrevocable.
21. The winning participants shall receive a cash prize, medal, and certificate. The
Champion will represent the City of Escalante in the Provincial Tour Guiding
Competition at Ayala Mall Capitol Central, Bacolod City, on September 20, 2023.
