Team role shows the different types of contribution that makes a team. 4 Ways to Achieve Team Goals Team leaders play important role in setting the stage for them to success. Each member of the team should be acknowledged and encouraged to share ideas. When team members feel needed, they are more likely to feel personally invested in achieving the goals of the group. 1. Shared goals Team strives to accomplish a set of common goals and objectives. Rather than focusing on the goals of one or two individuals, teams reach a consensus on what needs to be done. Each team member brings his unique perspective and skill to set the group. 2. Problem solving success Because teams usually consist of employees with different skill sets, one of the objectives of team work is thorough problem solving. The idea is that the combined knowledge of the team will result in more efficient problem solving. A team environment gives individual employees the chance to share their expertise with others. This may lead to an increased sense of support and willingness to collaborate. 3. Enhanced productivity Team development goals often include a desire to increase productivity in the workplace. By assigning multiple employees to the same set of tasks, more can get done in less time. 4. Relationship building Effective teamwork requires that each member listens and participates. Everyone should have a chance to present his ideas and opinions. Team members must learn to find common ground and determine the best way to work together peacefully. In a team, employees get a better sense of what their co-workers are like and they learn to establish trust. Employees may form social relationships with each other. These relationships may become beneficial to future team and individual project. 5 Team Member Role and Responsibilities 1. Executing all tasks assigned by the team leader or manager diligently, on schedule and to the highest standard. 2. Working with team members to achieve daily, weekly and monthly targets. 3. Expanding your skills by attending workshops and training sessions. 4. Effectively managing your time by prioritizing urgent tasks. 5. Answering or escalating concerns and queries from clients or other stakeholders. LO2. SET AND MEET WORK PRIORITIES 3 Types of Organizational Goals 1. Strategic goals - are goals set by the top management of the organization. Usually long term and from this goal, others are made and set for different time frames and areas. 2. Tactical goals- focus on how to operationalize actions necessary to achieve the strategic goals. 3. Operational goals- are usually made to tackle short- term issues associated with the tactical goals and lower managers are responsible for their attainment. Types of Team Objectives Team objectives are a list of goals for a team that are used for performance management 1. Cost- an amount that has to be paid or spent to buy or obtain something. 2. Efficiency- the output you get for a unit of input. 3. Labor productivity- is the average revenue produced in an hour of work. 4. Revenue- The gross income returned by an investment 5. Marketing- The process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service 6 6. Data- Factual information (such as measurements or statistics) used as a basis for reasoning, discussion, or calculation. 7. Cycle Time- Process that is regularly repeated in the same order 8. Quality- Degree of excellence of the products, services, processes or communications. 9. Risk- a situation involving exposure to danger 10. Customer service- Improving customer service with policies, procedures, training or organizational culture initiatives. Typically measured with customer satisfaction. 11. Customer experience- is your customer’s holistic perception of their experience with your business. It is the result of every interaction a customer has with your business. 12. Investments- An action or process for profit or material result. 13. Employees- One employed by another usually for wages or salary and in a position below the executive level. 14. Environment and communities- The aggregate of social and cultural conditions that influence the life of an individual in a certain society. 15. Compliance- typically achieved by implementing controls and measured by achieving certification. Tips to Manage Work Priorities 1. Step back and look at the bigger picture. 2. Establish your priorities. 3. Allocate your time to the tasks that matter. 4. Plan your weeks and daily tasks lists. 5. Manage your emails. 6. Minimize distractions and interruptions. 7 7. Don’t procrastinate. 8. Keep your work space clean and organized. Implement Best Practices of Equipment Maintenance Data 1. Gather baseline information. After collecting all necessary data on your capital assets, you can estimate the approximate equipment usage. 2. Choose an appropriate support system. 3. Put together Maintenance Checklists. 4. WORK AS A TEAM MEMBER Teamwork is defined as “a joint action by a group of people, in which each person shares his/her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group”. This does not mean that the individual is no longer important; however, it does not mean that effective and efficient teamwork goes beyond the accomplishments. The most effective teamwork is produced when all the individuals involve harmoniously their contributions and work towards the common goal. The most important element of teamwork is share information. Teamwork has become an important part of the working culture. Here are few qualities that a successful team possesses. 1.
