Zinsser Reflection 4
This chapter was about the interviewing process and how to accurate capture their
messages and tell their story. He tells us that interviewing is something we can only get better at.
He advises us to do homework about the person before the interview to avoid asking questions
you could already have the answer to, use a pen/pencils and paper, consider using a tape recorder
in situations where we might violate the cultural integrity of the speaker, asks for pauses when
the speaker is moving too fast for us to write. When we get to editing he advises us to not let the
cutting or a sentence or changes to any words distort the proper context of the excerpt.
